One of my wife's and my habits while on vacation in any other city is to find an Ethiopian restaurant and have a nice meal. Seattle didn't disappoint. Agelgil was beyond my expectation. Delicious food with an authentic Ethiopian reception. The customer service, though it could be a bit faster, was amazing (cordiallity and smile). The kitfo and the Tibs (derek) tastes like it was made right in the heart of Addis: just amazing. It was worth every penny we spent. The server, Betty, had us promise to come back to this place in our 30th anniversary (a couple years away). Hopefully, we will keep our promise.
Update 2023 Feb.
This was not our first time. My wife and I had been here exactly a year before. Last time, it was owned by a different owner. Regardless, in both occasions, we were blown away by the out-of-the-earth taste of the food. The Kitfo was definitely great. However, the Derek Tibs was just amazing. I couldn't figure out how they made it and what they added to make it this tasty. I am a habesha (Ethiopian),so, I should know. Customer service could use some improvements, but not that bad. Atmosphere is a bit loud but, hey, who cares for someone who is looking fir an Ethiopian...
Read moreThe worst dinning experience ever. Be prepared to eat or at least pay the bill for the food that was not prepared or cooked right. We ordered the tibs and kitfo both done so wrong. The tibs was full of onion, I know we ordered lamb tibs and not half and half with onion and worse was the kitfo one of the simplest Ethiopian dishes had no texture and felt like you were eating shiro or some sort of baby food meat with no texture at all if you know what I mean. We eat the tibs and one bit of the kifo we returned it after letting our server know. His response was I will let them know. So the bill came and we got charge for the untouched food. I asked why we r paying for the food we were unable to eat or get a replacement for! The response was " this is how the owner runs his business " hilarious business owner...
Read moreWe had a craving for Ethiopian food and they did not disappoint! Atmosphere and service was very welcoming and friendly. Our server was helpful and quite charismatic. The food, of course, was delicious. We ordered the house combo plate for two and the portions were extremely generous especially for the price point. There were plenty of items on the plate (10-12 if I recall) and each was perfectly seasoned, and the injera was nice and sour (order the teff flour version!). The house honey wine and Ethiopian beer were also a treat! We have already made plans with friends to make this a new regular spot. I also hope to come back to experience the coffee ceremony that they offer as well. Highly recommend, and much love to the staff for their...
