TL;DR: A classic feeling 2nd wave shop with an incredible vibe that well makes up for its outdated coffee flavor.
I was looking for something nice to do with my free time on a beautiful Saturday, and had been meaning to check this place out. As I walked up, the outdoor seating was teeming with people enjoying their Saturday, and I could hear some lovely jazz music drifting through the air. As I reached the front door of the shop, I was surprised to see there was a live jazz trio going on their small stage! The house was full of people enjoying their food, chatting happily. The line was long, but well worth the wait based on the vibe alone. I ordered a cappuccino and Marionberry pastry. The pastry was delicious! The coffee... not so much. The cappuccino was topped with an abundance of foam, and the coffee itself tasted bitter and burnt. I honestly was happy not to finish it. Now, my introduction to coffee was an award winning specialty roaster in California, so I'm admittedly very biased.
So, if you're a 3rd wave coffee surfer, wanting to dissect the subtle flavors of Seattle, give this one a pass. But if you're looking for a lovely place to hang, bring the fam, chat with friends, catch some live music, read a book, you've gotta check...
Read moreThis was my first visit to C & P Coffee and I will definitely be back! I have previously heard only great things about it, and now understand why. It was very busy, but my friend and I could communicate and hear each other just fine. We found a cozy spot that gave us enough space and privacy to do the work we had intended to do. It was a fun and comfortable environment with a community feel. I loved it! It was a great combo of being around friendly people, but also being able to do our own thing. I have been thinking a lot about the coffee since being there yesterday because it was so good! One of the best cups of coffee I've ever had. It was so flavorful, in all the best ways to a coffee lover. I had the 8 oz. mocha with oat milk. Their shots are actually double shots, even in that small size, so it had a rich coffee flavor, which I loved. It was served in a clear glass, instead of a mug, which was also lovely. The baristas were pleasant and welcoming, and topped my gourmet caffeine drink with beautiful latte art. Thank you for the experience, and like I said,...
Read moreIt's too expensive and I feel ripped off. The atmosphere is great and just what you want a coffee shop to look and feel like. Unfortunately, everything on the menu is over priced, the food and drinks are mediocre, and getting served takes forever.
Today I paid $3.56 for a small hot apple cider after waiting forever to get helped. That's nearly $4 for a just under a cup of liquid that probably cost the coffee house about twenty cents. It was poured out of a gallon jug and marginally heated. Didn't taste like much - grocery store special and was only slightly warm. For nearly $4!
My mistake though - I came back after an underwhelming experience over the weekend, simply because of the atmosphere. I had paid over $11 for a small, bland pasta salad without enough veggies, and a 12oz latte that tasted burnt. At my usual coffee spot the same order would have cost less than $8. There was live music and there are big tables, but even so, I should have known I'd be disappointed by my return trip.
Sadly, I won't be going to go back...
