I rarely give negative reviews as I like to give workers the benefit of the doubt, but this place...rudest workers I've encountered in Seattle and HORRIBLE customer service who was openly rude and hostile to me. I should have known something was off when as soon as I came in I saw two people frustratingly tell the restaurant to forget their order because they waited so long. I asked them if I could be put at a table and not the window seats - they refused after making me wait 20 min+. Waiting is normal, but waiting only to be placed in a spot where I told them I didn't want to sit is a problem, as they prioritized someone who came in after me for a table. A few minutes after I was seated at the window, the sun got very bright and started burning right at my spot on my forehead and eyes, so I asked them to put the shades down because the sun was in my eyes, and they had an attitude about it saying I should have let them know earlier. ?? Sorry that I cannot control the sun's rays and what time they shine? The butter they gave me after 2 minutes of being in the spot was liquid melted from the heat and my beverage warm. I thought the food would be tasty enough to justify the bad vibes, but other than the grits, the rest of my food was DRY. When I went to pay, they didn't even ask me how was the food or wish me a nice day as they seemed to be very annoyed I had the audacity to ask them about the blinds earlier. Please go somewhere where the people who work there are nice to customers, even when it gets busy - the food isn't good enough for the attitude and rude workers. Seriously the worst restaurant service I've had in Seattle ever which pains me as I was excited to support a local business.
Update: Seeing the response from the restaurant certainly gave me a chuckle. I think if their response is "stay at home and cook your own food" to valid feedback (note that they didn't say what I wrote wasn't true), it might be time to take a moment of rest away from customer-facing work. I hope they reconsider their approach to customers and feedback...
Read moreI got the honey butter chicken sandwich here after the meal, i have to say i have a pretty positive impression.
this came as a fried chicken breast sandwiched between two large biscuits, both drenched in honey butter The biscuits were excellent for the most part - they were baked enough to be just slightly crunchy on the outside, but the inside was marvelous. It was crumbly, broke apart so easily, and tasted so soft.
The biscuits were smothered with a honey butter mixture, that was very sweet. This was generally good, but I think there was too much honey, therefore the sweetness. I would've preferred a mixture that was mostly focused on butter with a little bit of honey. The sweetness tasted good at first, but towards the end it began to get a little tiring.
The biscuits were so sticky it was impossible to eat this as a sandwich - you had to eat it with a fork and knife
The chicken was quite good - especially when it came to the seasoning and how well it was breaded. The breading was a deep brown, which indicates how well it was fried. The seasoning was mildly spicy, and I wish it would've been slightly more so to counteract the flavor of the sweet biscuits, but not too many complaints there. I should also mention that I would've preferred thigh over breast when it came to the choice of meat, as while not overcooked, I can't say the inside was especially flavorful
I also got the grits as a side - and they were pretty good. Nothing too special, as a bit one-note, but not bad I did appreciate how warm this came out, though
For the price of about $20 in total, I thought it wasn't too unreasonable. Definitely quite filling
Overall, it's hard to make something bad with butter and biscuits, and they did a pretty solid job of keeping it good, with some decent chicken on top of...
Read moreI am speechless, and not sure how to do this place justice with my written review. I will simply say that Fat's Chicken and Waffles is a rare and special gift to Seattle's foodies. Let me first say that I rarely write reviews, but this place absolutely deserves positive feedback and praise. The second we walked in, we were greeted by an amazingly warm and friendly woman. The restaurant was filled with light, good energy, upbeat music, and people smiling and laughing. We were seated next to a few women who immediately started engaging us with just the right amount of friendly chit-chat. The whole place had the kind of familiar, small-town feel that we need more of. From a dining viewpoint, Seattle does not always have the warm, personal touch that it should. I don't know her name, but the woman that served us was not just nice for the sake of keeping the customer satisfied, but truly happy, and it showed. We smiled, laughed hard, engaged, and enjoyed ourselves while we waited for food. The experience was already great up until that point, THEN the food arrived. I can't begin to tell you how delicious every bite we took was. The food was hot, fresh, super flavorful, and clearly made with love and attention to detail. Authentic, delicious upscale southern comfort food with an innovative approach; yes please! In addition, the prices were completely fair and reasonable. I can't possibly recommend this place enough, and I encourage anyone who loves good food to experience it for themselves and...
