Seattle's Secret Bakery List | Undiscovered Hidden Gems

As a returning customer, I'm truly disappointed by the disorganization and management. I've pre-ordered over the phone multiple times and had no complications with the Chinatown location. But at the Elliot location, the manager blamed me for their mistake. In the end, I got my refund 4 months later and am now banned from ordering in the future. The details: On 8/15, I called to place an order on a whole soufflé cheesecake for pickup on 8/17. I was told I could come by anytime before 5pm to pick up the cake, so I showed up at 4pm. When I asked for my order and provided my email receipt, they were unable to locate the cake or the ticket. They had a bunch of pink sticky notes placed on the wall as their system. After further searching, they found my ticket written for pickup on 8/17, placed in the 8/24 pile (the next Thursday). My cake wasn't ready so the manager came out and explained she would prepare one on the spot but I'd need to wait 2-3 hours for it to defrost. That was no problem for me since it was 4pm and we were probably going to have the cake after dinner. I also had no options to pick up a cake elsewhere in time for the birthday celebration. While I waited, she offered me a drink on the house, which I thought was a nice gesture. We even made small talk while she customized the birthday note. Everything was fine until it was 7:30pm and most of the cake's center was still frozen. The next day, I called to let her know it was still frozen. She apologized and said she was unable to refund the amount back to my card but was able to add reward points to my account/ phone number. I happily agreed since I could easily order a cake within 6 months (reward stars expire after 6 months). On 12/26, 4 months later, I called to confirm the credit was in my account as I was ready to make a cake order. I found out only 8 points were credited to my account (10 points = $5 off). I told the staff I'd call back in a few minutes after checking the refund wasn't processed to my card. After confirming it wasn't refunded, I called back and the same staff said, "I have no idea what you're talking about. Hold." Very unprofessional. After a few minutes, I was happy to hear the voice of the manager. I explained the situation and she says she remembers. I asked about my refund and she explained the 8 stars added to my account was it. This wasn't my understanding and there was clearly some sort of miscommunication. I expressed I'd still like my full refund and she blamed me for picking up the cake on 8/17. She said if I didn't take the cake (that I ordered for pickup on 8/17), then she could've refunded me. But since I walked out with the cake, it was on me. I clarified that we had the cake 3 hours later (as instructed by her) and it was still frozen. She kept saying, "In our experience, that is not possible." She showed no signs of sympathy and pushed the fault onto me the entire time. In the end, she lost patience and processed a refund to my card. She added, "you will no longer be able to place orders in the future." I'm now banned from ordering all because of their own disorganization! If my cake was ready for pickup, there would've been no problem. I've had the same soufflé cheesecake multiple times soon after picking it up and they were ready to eat. I'm extremely disappointed and don't recommend pre-ordering cakes.

This unassuming chicken katsu sandwich in the deli cooler is easily the best thing I've eaten on my entire Seattle trip. Especially for the price: $7.50 after tax! Nevermind the gorgeous pastries and delectable desserts behind the counter; no doubt they are with their own merits--but this sandwich is in its own starred league. Minding its own business among the other sandwiches in the cooler, this katsu sandwich has more character than the cavalcade of patrons on the Route 2 Bus line. Its texture is (surprisingly!) delightfully crunchy, moist, tender, chewy but nuanced by being easy to bite into and not being stringy. The thick slab of chicken katsu is very tasty and accompanies well with the spiced sauce and crisp iceberg lettuce, and the sandwich is constructed in a way that makes it not a soggy mess. The bread it is served on of course is the special in house bread--soft, buttery, and velvety smooth. Absolutely worth the carbs. I could go on, but I'll be succinct: this carefully crafted sandwich is not only incredibly tasty, but deeply satisfying. It's one of my favorite sandwiches I've ever eaten. While I'm here, I'm getting another one.

Alright, I have seen this bakery every dingle time I drive to work, but originally never stopped there. On the outside it is relatively easy to pass up and does not look like much compared to everything else because of how crowded/busy the area is but luckily, being pink saves the day. However, this morning I stopped, and I loved it. I kid you not; the staff are so friendly, busy but friendly, and there are soooo many pastries to pick from here. I really respect their price to portion size ratio because it is very realistic and affordable. I got the match cruffin and the set of 4 sugar doughnuts -- so good -- that were both very flavorful and airy. Food wise I love this place. If we want to get more technical then it does not seem like a sit and relax type of spot (at least when I went) because there is no seating sadly. Maybe the seating was not out because it was raining. The parking is not bad! You can park along the street AND there is a small parking lot next to the building (you do not have to pay). HOWEVER if you are handicap then be careful with the street parking because you could get hit. The parking lot is small, so it may be filled when you get there (it was for me), if that makes any difference. Aside from that this cafe is honestly everything I would want to see in a cafe; clean, delicious, and a pleasant experience. I look forward to stopping in the future and seeing how this...

I stumbled upon it on a long walk along the water. My partner and I were exploring so we decided to check this place out and boy am I glad we did!!!

I immediately knew we found a gem because people starting forming a line as soon as we walked in (guess we beat a rush a bit) and when everything else in deserted in the area, this speaks loudly.

Got the Ube donut, crunchy custard donut, almond croissant, and a slice of fruit cake. Everything was delicious. I was impressed by the amount of filling in the donuts - they do not skimp!! Every bite was delicious and full of sweet flavors. The ube - wow, I kept expectations low because I haven't had luck with other places but this definitely hit the spot. It was light and sweet and you can definitely taste the ube flavor. The Almond Croissant had a glazed crunchy exterior and a soft almondy interior which is exactly what you'd want in an almond croissant.

I'm so happy I found this place! You know a place is good when they can close at 3 PM every day and still stay in business during a pandemic. I will definitely be back. It's a few miles walk from my apartment but I will use these sweet treats as motivation to...
