Intermezzo Salon & Spa — Local services in Seattle

My husband recently purchased a gift card from Intermezzo based off of the package he saw online. I was very excited because I've been wrapped up in the mom life and haven't made time to do my hair or do anything relaxing. I initially spoke with the owner, Jeremy, who let me know that the spa packages online were not up to date and he kindly helped me schedule other services for a same day service. I chose to get my hair colored and a facial.

I've never received a facial before and Tosha was amazing. She was super nice and made sure my first experience did not disappoint. She was so kind. The stars here do NOT reflect her at all. She was great and my experience was very relaxing. I would absolutely recommend her.

For a little background - my hair is natural asian hair. I was waiting to get it done and i'm sad to say that I left unhappy with the outcome of my hair. Cesar was my hair stylist. He was newer to the salon and he was pretty nice at first. He made conversation and it seemed fine but there were red flags that made me concerned. I showed him the photo of the hair color I was going for about 4-5 times. He told me that he would be able to get my there since I wasn't trying to go blonde when I initially showed him the photo. During the conversation, I noticed he kept asking me the same questions repeatedly - I just shrugged it off to him trying to make it less awkward quiet?... but then I started getting concerned. he made comments about my hair being thick and the timing with his other appointments, brought out the book with hair levels and asked if I wanted to go blonde.. when I specifically told him blonde wasn't what I was going for.. I showed him the picture again and he said okay. With the first toner, I noticed it was very blonde. I didn't like the contrast with my natural hair. He said he'd have to apply a different toner. I showed him the photo again and this is when he said I'd never shown him that photo and he's never seen it.. He acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I was LIVID but I kept my mouth shut and just wanted to leave and end this process.

I told him specifically I did not want warm tones, I wanted a mushroom brown with cool tones. I told him very honestly this wasn't what I was going for and although he thought it was pretty and "great for the season" I was not happy. He kept trying to convince me that it was great. I have chunks of blonde on the bottom, that look a bit like zebra stripes and then on top I have brown, orange, and brown hair mixed with my natural color. He didn't fully dry my hair - seemed like he had to get ready for his next client. Im currently scheduling my color correction since it's obvious he didn't put much care towards the bottom half of my hair. I just saw their newest stylest, Cesar. Cesar did a fantastic job, breathing some life into my lackluster blonde. He managed to enhance my hair's natural tones while introducing a vibrant, lively blonde that has completely revitalized my look. The outcome was a radiant, sun-kissed appearance that I absolutely adore. Cesar also gave me a haircut that not only complements my facial features but is also incredibly easy to manage. As a working mama, finding a hairstyle that is trendy, flattering, and low-maintenance is no easy feat. However, Cesar seems to have understood my needs perfectly and delivered a haircut that checks all these boxes. My new style is fresh and modern, and I've already received numerous compliments on it.

My first visit to Intermezzo today and I will definitely be back! Alex calmly listened to what wanted, then asked questions and gave feedback that was so helpful. (Growing out an old haircut from another salon. Ugh.) She has such a fun, calm vibe and she’s awesome at what she does. I told her I want my hair to be cute and up to date but not trendy like I’m trying to be on hairtok. 🙃 She absolutely delivered. And Jeremy (owner) is such a warm, delightful presence, and the salon space is very charming, classy, clean, and bright.
