My favorite Seattle teriyaki tofu. I used to get takeout a lot when I worked nearby and the tofu was always perfectly crispy outside and tender inside, only in the package for a short time. The sauce is the right amount of both sweet and salty. I order extra sauce sometimes, as I did in the most recent picture, in case I want it for leftovers or for another meal in the next couple days. I got delivery across town this time. You have to set expectations appropriately for delivery teriyaki tofu as it usually loses crispiness on the journey. I went back through old pictures and found one from 2021, and the surface texture does look more different than just a long car ride, honestly, but I was still really happy with my meal, it was delicious. So it’s possible they have a different preparation now than in the old picture. I would like to eat at the restaurant and see what peak crispiness is like, but I have either had a short lunch break or have not been nearby. When I have picked up, the place was always clean and the staff were friendly and efficient. They give a huge portion of tofu! I sometimes make more rice for the leftover tofu. They do not use egg on the tofu and didn’t before either (I checked again because I hadn’t been in a while). I don’t remember it being marked as vegan on the menu but I want to use that word in the review in case anyone is searching....
Read moreA Fantastic Bento Box Experience Under New Ownership at Himitsu Teriyaki! My recent visit to Himitsu Teriyaki was a delightful one, and it's clear the new owner and staff are doing an incredible job! The bento box I ordered was a true highlight, showcasing their commitment to quality and presentation. The presentation was excellent, with each component neatly arranged in its own section of the box, displaying a vibrant array of colors and textures. The star of the meal was the perfectly cooked salmon teriyaki. It was flaky, tender, and coated in a delicious, savory glaze that wasn't too overpowering. The shrimp tempura was crispy and light, a wonderful contrast to the rich salmon. I also really enjoyed the chicken teriyaki; the meat was juicy and flavorful, complementing the fluffy white rice. The fresh salad with its light dressing and the side of corn added a nice touch of freshness and balance to the hearty proteins. The menu board offered a huge variety of options, from teriyaki and fried rice to yakisoba and stir-fry, all of which looked amazing. This spot is a definite gem, offering great food, generous portions, and a wide selection. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try another one of their specialties, and I highly recommend supporting...
Read moreMy companion and I visited in the late lunch period (1300ish PST). It was not too busy, not too slow with folks coming in for a quick lunch.
The service was good, & there was a pot of complimentary soup for a warmup that was good.
We ordered Chicken Yakisoba & a chicken teriyaki plate. Pretty basic stuff you'd think.
The veggies and noodles in the Yakisoba were OK, & seemed fresh enough. But the chicken in both the Yakisoba and the Teriyaki plate was overcooked to the point of being dry (A true challenge for thigh meat). Judging by the taste this was pre-cooked and just reheated before being tossed onto or into the order as appropriate. It wasn't fatal, but it was a let down.
Reading the other reviews I probably caught them at a very off time or something.
Overall I may give this place a second shot based on others reviews but it'll be a while, but for now as the French would put it "Ce n’est pas terrible" (rough...
