Hot Cakes SoDo — Restaurant in Seattle

I'm so excited about this location. We have been to the Ballard location, but this is much closer. One thing that I was super excited to try is the hot cake flight! This is the only location that offers them. You can choose 3 different flavors, excluding the monthly special. I chose the s'mores, dark decadent, and the gooey brownbrownie. The dark decadent and gooey brownie were my all-time fave! My mother got the same with the exception on the strawberry option instead of the s'more. They are very rich, so having the smaller cakes makes them much easier to actually enjoy. My partner got the salted caramel, which was the monthly special. It was delicious, but very rich. His was full size. For the price, these are great! Again, they are rich and baked fresh, so definitely worth it! The space itself was super cute, next to wine tasting and seltzer tasting. Also, there was a pizza spot nearby as well. Overall, this is a great location, and the fact that they offer flights is a WINNER in my book. I highly recommend it! This place was amazing— food was great albeit pricey and the atmosphere was amazing… which is why it pains me to give it one star. The reason I am giving it one star is because one of the people in my party is severely allergic to peanuts which we specified clearly upon ordering. We ordered a peanut butter molten cake and asked it to be clearly marked so that way there was no chance it would be accidentally eaten. Long story short— it was marked incorrectly. The one marked as the peanut butter cake was not actually the peanut butter cake, resulting in my friend taking a bite and having a pretty serious reaction. Although we did not have to go to the ER or anything of that nature— the fact that such little care/ accuracy was put into specifying the allergenic cake is a real damn shame. Especially after we specifically asked and told them of our parties special needs. In short though the food was amazing— we will not...

We dropped by Hot Cakes Sunday afternoon; my wife had read about it in the Times, so we decided to stop by on our way home (in North Admiral). We picked out our deserts and were prepared to pay when the young man that was serving us said, "For safety reasons, the shop doesn't accept cash, card only." "No worries, we have a digital card on my wife's phone!" Unfortunately, the confirmation text was going to be sent to my phone, which I didn't have with me - how embarrassing!

As it turned out, the young man paid for our deserts - I went by at lunch today to repay him, but they weren't open until late afternoon - we'll totally return to repay his kindness! What a lovely young man!

Oh, by the way, the cookies were wonderful, and we're definitely returning for the molten...
