First time eating here and 100% an impulse stop. Convenient location...parking was a concern but understood it is limited. When walking into the place the fake smiles were obvious. I felt like I was being rushed and felt like, even though at the time I was the only customer there, I had to sit in a specific location so seating was negotiated. I didnt want to sit at the counter and desired a window seat at a booth but was directed to a specific table🙄.The place was very clean and well put together. The menu seemed pretty reasonable but was surprised that at 11am breakfast wasnt an option. Most diners I go to have all day menus but ok...first time going there and now I know. So I settled for a the lunch options....I ordered a Philly steak sandwich and house fries. I do not recommend eating it. Even though the food was delivered fast....and it was very hot (which I do like), the sandwich was not the best. I dont even think It has cheese on it. It did have grilled onions and chopped steak and some kind of sauce but it had no flavor. I felt like it should have been less runny and more added to it in general. Whomever came up with the idea of making the sandwich this way clearly never had a good Philly Steak sandwich before. The fries were worse.....dark fries and tasteless even with added salt and ketchup. Why not thick...lighter fries? I do not recommend this meal at this establishment. With all that being said....I will return to this establishment to try out their breakfast menu. Do not expect to be greeted friendly here so just find a seat and order your food and do not look the waitress in the eyes. That way you won’t be disappointed when she gives you a fake smile and just want you to hurry up and...
Read moreUse to love this place, but something has changed. The last few times I went I noticed little differences but yesterday I went and it was disappointing. We waited about 40 minutes to be seated, which is fine, but the hostess sat people ahead of us because the female of the duo was complaining 🙄 we were both the same size party so it didn’t make sense. Anyways we moved past that and once seated we knew what we wanted so once our server came over we ordered everything at once. Then we sat waiting while a customer who was seated after us was served her Bloody Mary, while we weren’t. Okay, weird but looking at the bartender she seemed busy but also annoyed and moving pretty slowly. About 15 minutes pass and our food is delivered to us without our drinks. Okay well maybe they will be right out. Nope 5 minutes later our server comes by again and we ask about the drinks and the server said they were being made right then. Well another 10 minutes pass, no drinks and we are finished eating at this point. We ask for the bill and Togo boxes. Well the bill came and to our surprise there is now a $2 up charge for a biscuit. So a piece of chicken fried steak, gravy, 2 eggs (which the kitchen can never cook correctly but we always know that and know what to expect) and a biscuit ended up being $16.95. I’m all about paying that price for great food but the whole experience was mediocre at best. It’s sad because this was one of our favorite brunch places to go to. Once we no longer recognized a single worker we should have realized it was no longer the Hudson we...
Read moreBreakfast or brunch for me always means grits. But not many places have them on the menu in Seattle. I can now place Hudson in my rotation. First and foremost, they serve great and generous cocktails if libation is important to your brunch options. I had a sip of my first Bloody Mary and I was greatly surprised that it hit every important palate stimulation for me. Very intense tomato flavor, good citrus backnote and a heady compliment of horseradish with a generous portion of vodka, nicely garnished with lime and lemon wedges and olives. Mary comes with a stubby Miller High LIfe side. I’ll be back for that one! I had a Salty Dog that was heavy on the hair of the dog! We ordered fish and grits for breakfast, but it was really a sandwich option that we made into a breakfast by adding soft scrambled eggs and cheese. The grits are yellow stone ground and well flavored. Personally, I like my grits a bit more creamy, but they did not otherwise disappoint. My sister and I watched as other breakfasts passed by us headed to different tables. The chicken fried steak seems to be a popular item, along with the biscuits and gravy. Portions are generous and looked good enough to lure me back to experience more of their menu items. If you are looking for a less familiar location for brunch, I suggest you give...
