TLDR: Skip this place. Shiku Sushi next door is way better.

I reserved a table here in January 2020. When I entered they asked me to wear a mask until I sat down... okay fine, this was becoming the status quo at the time. I put on a mask and walked to my table and sat down and took off my mask. When the server came to the table she asked me to put my mask on when she was near the table (note both of us were 3' from the neighboring table where 2 people were sitting with no masks). I gave her a quick "are you serious" look then put on my mask and ordered a drink. A few minutes later she came back with my drink, and motioned for me to put the mask back on. I said "you can just leave the drink, I am not ready to order, my friend is not here yet", but she said "I need you to put your mask on before I come close to the table", I said "why, you just came that close 7 times in the past 10 minutes as you walked by, not to mention taking my drink order next to other patrons with no masks on". Instead of explaining why, she just went straight to nuclear-woke and threatened me with "Sir if you don't want to follow our restaurants safety policy I am going to have to ask you to leave..." and before she could finish I said "thanks, I'll eat somewhere else tonight" and walked out.

Fast forward 2+ years, having completely forgotten about the experience, I made another reservation here. My date and I arrived only to be told that I had been "86ed". I asked what that meant and she said "you're banned" and I said "what, are you serious?" and then the previous experience started to come back to me... I began to tell the story to the best of my recollection at that moment but the the hostess cut me off and said I'd have to talk to the owner... which needless to say, I won't be doing. Instead, I am simply telling all of you to avoid this place if this sounds as ridiculous to you as it does to me.

We left and were lucky enough to get a walk-in at the sushi place next door, Shiku Sushi, which has better sushi anyway.

To the owners response below: First of all, in contrast to what you just admitted, I do remember what happened. I just explained it in detail. There was nothing abusive or harassing about the situation... and if it was described that way to you, then your server lied about the incident. Second, I have no emails, missed calls, voicemails, or OpenTable messages from anyone from your establishment, so I'm wondering where you're getting that...

We used to really enjoy coming to Moshi Moshi, but unfortunately, after tonight’s experience, we won’t be returning.

The service was essentially non-existent. Not once were we asked if the food was good or if we needed anything throughout the entire meal. We ordered edamame to start, which never came out — no explanation, no apology, it just never showed up.

To make things worse, our entrees were served at completely different times. One of us had already finished their meal by the time the other person’s entree arrived. It felt like we were eating two separate dinners.

The tonkatsu was also a major letdown. It was paper-thin, lacked any real flavor, and was oddly served with a sauce that tasted like A1 — not what you’d expect or want with a traditional Japanese dish.

It’s disappointing to see the quality and service decline this much. We’ve had good experiences here in the past, but tonight made it clear that it’s time to move on.

Update: After leaving this review, the team at Moshi Moshi reached out to me directly. They were kind, apologetic, and took the time to acknowledge what happened. I really appreciated the gesture and their willingness to make things right. It’s clear they care about their guests and are open to feedback,...

The single most underwhelming sushi I've ever had... We've ever had. The Miso soup was the only thing that seemed to be even approaching exceptional. The wasabi was way off, like the worst wasabi ever. I don't know if it was because we had it delivered that it sucks so bad, or that's just the way they go. From the reviews and walking by the place, it looks like a great place for some people's tastes. I've literally gotten sushi from Safeway that was a far better example of what I'm used to having from a sushi restaurant. In all fairness I'd like to note that we ordered from Caviar on a Wednesday afternoon around 4:00. Nonetheless, that shouldn't be an issue in such a competitive market. If you're going to offer delivery at any time of day, and you've set a certain standard upon which you operate, then live up to that standard. And we got broken chopsticks... How does that even happen? Look through my reviews and you'll see that I don't make any middle of the road comments. It's either I love you or I'll never come back again. This is a place that probably never come back again there's other sushi restaurants in the neighborhood that seem to really care about what's coming from the back of the house, versus...

Not that they need my review but this place is fantastic. The staff is so well trained everyone is on top of their game. The food is excellent and as a picky eater I gotta admit I ate way more greens than I've ever eaten before. The restaurant itself is very nice and the layout is cozy even on these recent cold days. I had tonkatsu that was fried perfectly, with a salad covered in the most delicious dressing I've ever had on a salad. We also got the cucumber house salad (very refreshing and a great portion for two) and some green bean tempura that was done very well. All the servers were fantastic, I love getting checked up on by different servers but with good pacing, if that makes sense. They don't buzz around you or interrupt your meal. They just know when to come in. Fantastic restaurant, highly recommend.

It’s always interesting to try sushi in the Pacific Northwest because you just never know as I’ve had sushi from LA and the original fish market, Tsukiji in Tokyo. This place was good we had a variety of dishes focusing on nigiri (sushi on rice). We also ordered the Rumi Roll, it was good. The one thing I noticed though was the sushi rice was not room temperature but rather cold and it didn’t have that subtle sweetness. Don’t know if it was because we had it for lunch time vs dinner but it was a little disappointing. The sushi and rice proportion was spot on. We also ordered the fatty sushi’s like the toros, salmon, and yellow tail ones. The spicy tuna crispy rice was good also, interesting that they used clarified butter for the crispy rice part.
