Please make sure that you read all of the one star reviews before you even consider consigning out the store. The owner and management staff is completely dishonest and they do not conduct business in an ethical manner. I had all of my framed art pieces reviewed via email by Viktor who I am guessing is the owner. He gave me a range of pricing for the first edition lithographs, all custom framed artwork ( these were not framed posters) that I was considering consigning. When I dropped off the items to the store, the manager was very very rude to me and asked me what pricing I was given. I told him that Viktor only gave me a range of pricing. Not any specific number. He then said he would follow up with Viktor on the pricing.I signed the contract and put a written note in the bottom corner indicating the store was following up on pricing. I never received any phone calls from the store whatsoever.
When I called four weeks later to inquire on the artwork I was told the majority of it had sold already. I inquired on the pricing ( and that no one called me to review pricing) and they said everything had almost sold and all were priced at $30. I had been given a range of $30-$70 and all of the pieces were of different sizes with some of them being extremely large. These pieces had been in my family for decades and artists were well known. The owner and manager Obviously do not know anything about artwork or they would have looked at the pieces with a lupe. Will, the manager, why they were all priced the same and at the low end and he could not give me a logical answer. They pushed it back on me and said I should have confirmed everything with the owner. So it was all my fault . I followed up with Viktor and it was the same thing. He blamed it on me for leaving the store even though his staff said they would follow up with him. It’s basically your common scam: The owner tells me to have the store price it and the store says talk to the owner for pricing. I won’t go into all of the other email exchanges that I had with Viktor yesterday to try and resolve the situation and have them do the right thing. They blame me for a full voicemail which is completely ridiculous because I would never have my work phone fill up. They are full of excuses and are very very bitter and rude people.
I don’t know where Viktor is from but this is not how we do business in America and be successful. I am a retail business owner myself and can’t imagine treating a customer like this.
DO NOT CONSIGN from any of this chain store locations. They are all run by him. RUN from this nightmare. They will rip you off, just like I’m sure they did in the previous country he was in. He needs to learn how we do business here.
Lastly, read the owners comments ( Viktor) back to the customers in the one star reviews. You can see very clearly his attitude. He should not be in business. The name Viktor in Russian can mean “ artist”. More...
Read moreI have to say after living in Seattle for the last 20 years I’ve never come across a business that literally turned me off within five minutes of walking in their door. I was in the market for a TV stand and after looking on Offerup and Craigslist I thought I would see what kind a selection this used furniture shop offered. While they did have a large selection of used furniture I do see why they have a large selection and it’s because the prices are so overpriced that its actually insulting to think they would believe somebody would pay $700 for a used TV stand that retails on the Internet brand new for half the price. The owners are banking on the fact they are located in Ballard and the surrounding area. Their prices were so ridiculous I literally walked out the door shaking my head thinking I feel truly sorry for the victims/customers that have purchased furniture there.
I went back on Offerup and Craigslist and picked up not just a TV stand but also a dresser, and from this stores prices I would have paid over $1,000 for both the pieces if I bought it from them but because I chose to go back on OfferUp and Craigslist it cost me $300 for two top quality pieces that are solid wood and quality built.
Do your homework first people before you buy here because while you’re eating a pork chop for dinner after buying a dresser from this store the owners will be laughing while their eating their...
Read moreI've been a supporter of Ballard Consignment for a few years and have furnished my office, living room and dining room with their pieces. I really do love the selection and feel that prices are fair. That said - my most recent visit left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I had asked an employee about a set of dining chairs upstairs and it was almost like I was bothering him by doing so. The way he was speaking to me was incredibly condescending. As a customer who plans on spending quite a bit of money, I feel it's well within my rights to ask questions about items... At this point I felt uncomfortable and just wanted to get out of the store so I quickly payed and was told that since I was parked out front, someone would be bringing my items out I could load them into my car. I waited outside for ten minutes before another associate came out and said "are you waiting or something??". When I answered, he scoffed and said "uh yeah, your chairs are right there", indicating inside the store, and then left. I don't require help and am fully capable of loading chairs in the back of my car, but the sarcastic tone made me feel embarrassed as I loaded my purchases, which totaled to more than $600. I still recommend Ballard Consignment to friends and will likely shop there again, but the attitude from some employees is a big turn-off and could use...
