I wandered into Rotie Cellars last week (bless them for being open on a Monday when no one else is), and felt so welcomed from the moment I stepped in. Kaleo was such a great host—knowledgeable, approachable, and just really fun to chat with.
The wine itself is just spectacular – rose, red and white alike. I’m not exaggerating when I say every single pour was incredible. By the end of the tasting, I just couldn’t imagine my life without this winery. After mulling it over for many many minutes, I decided that life is short and it would be unjust not to join the wine club.
As luck would have it, the spring release event was being held a few days later, and so I was able to attend this past weekend. What an amazing event. Great energy, genuinely wonderful people, and Tioni and Kaleo made us feel like we were part of the family. Sean, the winemaker, was so humble, funny and easygoing – someone who makes wine of that caliber can easily have an ego, but he was refreshingly authentic and down to earth.
The bottom line is that Rotie is the real deal: phenomenal wine, zero pretension, and just genuinely good humans behind it all. If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend you pay...
Read moreWent to this winery a year ago and must have caught the lady on a bad day. She was in the office for about ten minutes after we came in. We made eye contact, but she kept working. we spent the time looking around at the walls where maps and placards were placed talking about the history and location of the winery. When she did come out we asked to taste some wine. The wine was okay, but instead of talking about any of it she instead poured a sample stating grape varietal and then going right back to the office. We would wait a couple minutes before she came back out to repeat the process. In the end she didn't ask us any questions or bother for a sale. She just told us it would be $30. I understand if she was in a rush and had a deadline coming up, but not once was there any explanation for her lack of interest in us. We had a bad first impression to...
Read moreMy husband, cousin, aunt, and myself were hoping to grab a glass of wine at the SODO tasting room today. 3 of us walked in asking if there was room, and the man gaffed at us for asking saying they were completely booked and “we should have known to make a reservation”. My husband, who had run to the car while we were inquiring, went in on his own to ask about the 4 of us and got a similar response. While I understand that yes they were full and that’s great, there was no need for the rudeness. We had hoped to ask about wines for our upcoming wedding but given this interaction I think we will see other wineries. Next time remember, a little politeness...
