i got the 12 PC Fried Pork Dumplings with Egg
i'm astounded at how good this was
i normally only review the food, but this experience was so unique i have to mention it this entire place is run by a single lady, which means she's the server, cook, and cashier all in once this did cause a couple issues when it came to get her attention for things - but it wasn't too bad also, unless you're chinese - expect a language barrier - as it took us a while to understand that she was telling us the white rice was in a separate corner however, i'm willing to overlook all of that, because this is clearly a place run by someeone who cares about providing authentic, high quality chinese food, and you can tell the passion she has for making this place great this isn't just any other restaurant where the owner and cooks are distant and unseen from the guests
what i got seemed to be like an omelette with 12 pieces of fried dumplings mixed in - each containing pork starting with the dumplings - these were just perfect they were perfectly fried on the outside, with golden brown fried marks quite visible, yet biting into them was so satsfyingly soft. There was obviously a ton of oil used on the outside to give it amazing flavor, but I'll take that unhealthy tradeoff for food that utilizes that flavor to produce great results - like this one did the softness was also apparent when you got to the pork filling in the dumplings - which also blended together super smoothly it's hard to express how great eating one of these felt - if someone asked me the perfect example of comfort food - a food you can eat that doesn't require a lot of effort, doesn't fill you up too much, and tastes just like heaven, i would point to this
in addition to the dumplings being amazing, the egg omelette was also super soft, as well as being thick it was blended in with these greens which added just that extra flavor these managed to combine so well with the dumplings and the surrounding to create a beautiful flavor combination
the price of these was also impressively low, coming it at only around 13 dollars for the dish the only thing i'll say is that it's not super filling - so i wouldn't expect ordering just the dumplings to fully satisfy someone who's hungry and looking for lunch/dinner, but given the lower price it's not a huge demerit
overall, an all time chinese food...
Read moreHappy Food is the perfect cure for nostalgia if you grew up in China and miss the taste of authentic home cooking. Even if you’re not fortunate enough to be a native Chinese, it’s worth a try - you won’t regret it. No, they don’t have egg flower or hot and sour soup. And no, please don’t ask for General Tso Chicken or Mongolian Beef. This is HAPPY food, not Standard American Diet (SAD) food. Trust me, those omissions are intentional and made with your best interests in mind. Once you venture into the fenced parking lot, walk through the door with iron bars, and sit down at the clean and minimally decorated dining room, you’ll be greeted by a couple of friendly chefs. Yes, chefs, not waitresses. If they’re not too busy, feel free to strike up a conversation and ask for recommendations; they’ll likely be the ones preparing your dishes and bringing them to your table. The chefs hail from Zhejiang and Sichuan, two provinces celebrated for their rich agricultural heritage - ideal conditions for cultivating extraordinary cuisine. All items on the menu are the typical dishes you’d find in a humble Chinese home kitchen, not in some pretentious five star hotel. We had Fried Pork Dumpling With Egg, Fish Fillet with Scallion Oil, and Farmhouse Fried Spicy Pork. All turned out to be as delicious as we expected. The closest comparison might be the scene in Ratatouille when the famously hard-to-please critic takes a bite that instantly transports him back to his childhood. I wholeheartedly agree with the 160+ reviewers—this place truly deserves its 5.0 rating. It’s in a sketch neighborhood but please don’t be discouraged by the crowd outside the parking lot. As long as you don’t bother them, they...
Read moreOur experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. We visited Seattle with friends and chose this place based on the good reviews we found online, looking forward to a great meal. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for our excitement to turn into frustration. After ordering, we waited an excessively long time for our food to arrive, ultimately missing the sunset view we’d planned to enjoy. When the food finally did come, it didn’t live up to expectations at all. The fried rice, in particular, was the worst I’ve ever had – completely lacking in flavor and quality. The biggest surprise, however, came when it was time to pay. I chose not to leave a tip due to the poor service and subpar food, but the woman at the counter reacted rudely, insisting that tipping was her “right” and that they were “doing us a favor” by serving us. I was shocked – service is part of the job, not a favor! Despite explaining my reason, she continued pressuring us until we felt we had no choice but to give a tip.
This restaurant’s poor customer service and unprofessional approach left a very negative impression. If you’re looking for a place with good food and friendly service, I would highly recommend looking...
