I'd like to start off by saying that I'd been to the Royal Room one other time and I loved the vibe, atmosphere and the music. The food was DELICIOUS- my favorite, the Tequila Fettuccine, and the service not that great but the food made up for it.
Not this time around though. So, I decided that I wanted to celebrate my college graduation by inviting my friends to eat some great food and enjoy music. We got there: we told our waitperson that we were having dinner but we were starting off with drinks and an appetizer. When we noticed that the chairs were going up on the table so we asked "are you closing, should we order our food?" And the waitperson says "Oh, the kitchen just closed; I didn't know it was closing and that you were ordering dinner." I told her that I wasn't there to eat appetizers and drinks and we did tell her we were having dinner; and she should've known that the kitchen was closing and told us to order our meals. I don't think that she was being honest about what she knew, and I believe that she just overlooked us. The entire time while we were there, she provided bad drink service. It was very disappointing, we spent over 50.00 for drinks and 1 appetizer and had to find another place to have dinner which ended up costing way more time and money which we would've spent at your restaurant! We ended up spending 500.00 at another restaurant.
I was not happy with the service and I don't feel like her "I didn't know" excuse was sufficient enough to make up for the fact that she failed to get our dinner order in on time. I love the food but I doubt I'll be back there anytime soon, as I didn't feel that they really cared to make it up for us by at least comping something, a coupon- nothing. A sorry too bad attitude is not something that I look forward to experiencing at the Royal Room. I will not be recommending the place to anyone. And I wont be shy about where not to go for food and entertainment; already people have been asking me how my experience was and I told them that I was disappointed. I believe in great customer service, that is how we survive in this highly...

We love the casual neighborhood vibe and intimate layout of the club. The lighting is comfortable, including some amusing black cut-outs that look like a hand making shadow puppets, back-lit. The tables on the main floor are quite small. The stage lighting and audio system were very well designed, "Goldilocks" style (not too loud, not too muffled, but just right).
The drinks and service are great; the waitstaff are friendly and accommodating. The food is lackluster, but priced accordingly (not jacked-up for a captive audience).
The club has a somewhat clumsy but workable reservation system: you first reserve your seats for the performance, then are sent to a third-party site to purchase tickets, then return to the club's site. After doing this, you have reserved seats (including your name on a specific, reserved table), and a dinner reservation, and paid tickets.
Parking is available a few blocks away at a neighborhood parking lot on S. Ferdinand St. with very low...

Food was great! We had the mussels, poutine, hummus and a round of drinks. A bit pricey, but still had a great time.
The sound was perfect and not ear splitting/cracking. It sounded like we were listening to a CD or Ashley Simpson on SNL! I'm finding myself wanting to come here again and hearing other performances here too.
We founding parking on the street easy to find on a Sunday afternoon. The city has improved since the days I was living around here as a kid some decades ago. Afterwards we found some nice spots around to hang out at and grab some grub and a few drinks too.
We did hear that the changing room for performers needed quite a bit of attention because it was small and did smell a bit like a cat litter. So I hope they fix that so more performers would be happy to return to do a show.
All in...
