I've been waiting to try this place. For me this seemed to be more of a quiet lunch spot out of the way, off the beaten path. Lucky for me I was right. It has nice large windows to let tons of light, I'm sure it's really nice on a sunny day. But the decor really got me. I'm a sports fan so to walk in and see the fencing like you would find on a practice field and the swag hanging off of it like when we would stick our jerseys in the fence really brought me back to my younger years. Then the collage of bats strewn together just like youngsters do not thinking of having to pick them up,but you always knew who's bat was whose. It was really cool for me. The food was well prepared, the usual stuff just done with care. I didn't get our servers name but both ladies working were really pleasant and the music was a nice change of pace, going back to the 80's is fun sometimes. Overall it was a great lunch and if given the chance I would encourage you to stop in, now I don't drink but it looked like they had a full bar that would be great for a little libation.

Rookies has been an incredible, neighborhood spot since their inception. I hadn't been since before the pandemic began. I'm glad to know the food is still stellar & the service is top notch. The TV screens are large & plentiful, even though it wasn't a game day [go Seahawks 💙💚] there were other sports to watch: college football, soccer, etc. I was also thrilled to find out they offer breakfast food - especially since originally I wanted to go to G*raldine's, but their wait included about a dozen people standing outside in the wintry weather. At Rookies, there was no wait & our food came up quickly as well. I opted for the Lil 🍔 which is ¼lb. & looked small but was the ideal size for me [$12] I chose waffle fries & they were hot & freshly made also. The regular size burger is $14 + $2 for bacon. I visited Wednesday just before 12n. I will definitely return, sooner than later.

What’s not to love about Rookies? The food is top notch, and their breakfast is Columbia City’s best kept secret! I love coming here week after week and getting in touch with the friendly, beautiful faces of the neighborhood. As for the staff, Amy is pure joy and she knows my schedule better than I do! Gabby’s so sweet and wonderful. Colin is intricately thoughtful and attentive. Elliott always welcomes me in by name and we have some good laughs. Katie and Naomi are absolutely legendary!!! I don’t know Chantel as well but so far she puts up with me with the utmost kindness. :) (Please forgive me if I’ve spelled half your names incorrectly…) In short, if you live in the neighborhood and have yet to visit, dear G-d. Stop what you’re doing right now and go have a nice, big Columbian City lunch!

My very first time visiting this place was horrible! The waiter wasn’t friendly, rushing, and not compassionate. Within 5 minutes of ordering the queso dip appetizer it came out to my friend & I. When we received it the consistency was like soup it had tiny bubbles through it for reference— I waited 5 more minutes to see if the consistency would thicken but it didn’t. I tried my drink as I waited and that wasn’t good either. I politely asked it to be remade she even made a face when I showed her the dip and agreed it wasn’t right. After our interaction with asking for it to be fixed my friend and I didn’t feel welcomed anymore so we decided we would wait for the dip to be done and cancel my order. ( She didn’t get any main courses) when I again, politely told her she told me they had already made it (that was quick again) I told her I’m sorry I just didn’t want to move forward anymore. She still brung the food out to me and tried to force me to eat it, as I looked at it it felt that was also rushed. I asked for a bacon burger well done and the bacon was pink. She got so upset that she told us they would do nothing else for us and we needed to leave. I happily left and went to BlueWater instead and had a 1000% better...
