A friend and I stopped by Urban Bakery yesterday after walking around Green Lake. The place was clean, there were not many people (1 pm on a Friday afternoon), there was plenty of spaced out seating outside, and luckily, the weather was perfect (sunny and not too cold). It was a great day for a latte! I was not paying, and I asked my friend to order me a tall latte substituting Hemp milk. I have had some really fantastic Hemp milk lattes in Seattle in the past few months, on the rare occasions that I actually ventured out and had a coffee with a friend due to covid. Unfortunately, the hemp milk latte yesterday from Urban Bakery was pretty terrible! Because I did not pay for it, my friend and I were having a great conversation, the atmosphere was a perfect, and I had my dog, I did not want to spoil the mood to ask for another. However, I should have let the barista know that the latte was not good, at all. I owe my friend that paid a coffee from a different cafe. Probably a different barista may make a better latte, but because I go so infrequently to Green Lake, I may not have the opportunity to try Urban Bakery again anytime soon. I'm giving 2 stars because the barista was very friendly and the place...

In my (our) experience, we originally went to the shoppe across the way since my mate likes their chocolate varieties. I was on the hunt for cold-brew, and the guy over there quickly responded 'no' to that option. We were also hungry but there weren't much options there. We decided to wander back over to the Urban Bakery, and I inquired again about cold brew. They didn't have it either, but what stood out about this instance, was that the girl actually offered an alternative with an iced Americano! I agreed to that option, and added a shot. My partner then decided to order a half-sammich and I went with the avocado toast. The girl handed me a plain slab of toast with avocado, and pointed me to the myriad of seasonings available for me to decorate my toast! Thankfully I have had seasoned avocado toast before, so I happily seasoned it to the best of my memory (and now I know what the other place uses!) I am so happy we came here, especially after making eye contact with the girl as we passed by the first time 😹 This place is great! There are so many food options too, I am...
Read moreMy rating is for food and service, not interior design. I’ve never had a bad meal, sandwich, salad, soup or coffee during my visit before or after walking the lake. The Quiche Lorraine and the curry chicken salad are my faves!! Croissants and lemon bars are our sweet tooth faves. Indeed, everything has been delicious and filling. I like the quiet local neighborhood atmosphere and the efficient staff.
I was introduced to this unassuming little place about 2 years ago by a friend who’s been coming weekly for many years, and also loves the food and appreciates their ability to accommodate gluten-free bread for the sandwiches.
The ability to sit outside with doggies is...
