The Vault Ristorante — Restaurant in Sedalia

GREAT drinks and service in the cocktail bar. Beautiful and solace courtyard. Dinner was not as good as expected. We received our first bit of food 45 minutes after sitting down and having our order taken. We noticed others in our area that were waiting a very long time too. We also witnessed a large table getting appetizers delivered to the table before any of their party was sat down; our waitress told us outright that their order got put in front of ours even though we were there and sat (and at this point had already waited a half hour for our order). We also never received our appetizer, so I canceled it when our dinner was brought out. My wife and I had the steak tip, Chef special of the week. The mashed potatoes and asparagus was VERY good. The asparagus was among the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The steak tips were cooked past the requested level and were very tough and flavorless. The sauce on them was mediocre. Music was too loud and was very random... from The Beach Boys to other Pop music. I would expect a place like this to play classical music or simply instrumental to set the right ambiance. Especially at dinner time and with conversational noise. The manager came by several times and asked how we were doing but I didn't want to air it out in public. I also recommend the host or Hostess dress more appropriately for a fine dining establishment. I thought they appeared sloppy with their clothes and choice of footwear. Some of the wait staff as well. For a white tablecloth restaurant, the staff needs to be more appropriately/uniformly dressed in my opinion. This includes a manager that was in jeans and a short sleeve multi-colored polo. I would like to reiterate just how professional the bar staff presented themselves and dressed. If the rest of the restaurant had lived up to their level of service, it would have gotten a much better rating. I look forward to attending live music events in the courtyard and having cocktails...

It was very loud, making it nearly impossible to hear others at our table. The food was very slow and subpar. We waited over an hour for our food. The waiter was rude and spoke poorly to a member of our party because they sat in a different seat at a table than they had wanted them to. It literally made no difference where any of us sat at the table. Management came to our table and asked how it was. When we explained the issues he became rude, and despondent. He then proceeded to stand over us, attempting to be intimidating. All we wanted was to give him the requested feedback. There was never a request for a discount or any reparations. His response was beyond unprofessional. His body language and demeanor was hostile. In response, we requested that our food, that had not arrived, be removed from our bill and we will pay for our drinks and appetizer. We were told that since the order was placed, regardless of whether or not we got the food, we had to pay for it. He then told us that this restaurant was not for us and we should probably not return. When our food arrived, we asked it to be boxed and that became an issue. Delicious Italian food! This is a wonderful addition to our downtown! We were a party of 6 celebrating our sweet bride to be! We made reservations for 5:15, arrived a few minutes early and popped in next door to the lounge. We were instantly welcomed in by cheerful smiles. The staff was very nice throughout. We entered the restaurant and our table was waiting with bread and dipping oils. The decor was on point for an authentic Italian ristorante. Soft music playing, white table cloths, a welcoming atmosphere. Our server Steph was amazing! She was on top of everything to make our dinner spectacular! We were so pleased with her attentive great service and recommendations! The food is absolutely fantastic!...
