This is one of the few remaining Cody’s in the St. Pete/Tampa Area. Cody’s used to be an awesome happy hour, great steak+, good hang out spot. Many of the locations have closed down in the past few years. While many have closed their doors, this location is actually rather new. As it has been for ages, we are no longer allowed to add our own personal artwork to the walls. From Cody’s opening being able to color on the walls has been a staple of Cody’s. I was sad when they stopped allowing it. Aside from personal art Cody’s does have a decent display of beer signs, oil & gas signs, they have quite the collection of old signage. Along with the inside décor Cody’s did a good job decorating outside. The old school bright yellow truck that sits out front in view of the main street certainly does the trick at being an eye catcher! Very rustic country feel. I went on a Friday night and this place was PACKED! The host was very pleasant as well as my server. However, since it was packed and there was a wait I went to the bar to pick up one Sprite for the three people in my dining party. The bartender was very rude, almost as if my Sprite was not good enough to be poured at the bar, she clearly has cocktails to make! Not only was she rude she also charged me for this Sprite after I told her that I was waiting for a table(presented my playing card to her) and the wait was going to be 45ish minutes. I paid for my Sprite and went back outside to wait for my table. During this wait I did call management because I feel the bartender handled the situation very poorly. Upon speaking to the manager, he did make things right. He said he would talk with the bartender and he offered to buy us dessert. We declined as that was not the goal of me calling. The Food- After the beginning ordeal, we were seated, and I ordered a house margarita and the chicken fajitas. Cody’s is famous for their fajitas, cinnamon butter & rolls, and complimentary peanuts – you get to throw the shells on the ground!!- NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE W/ PEANUT ALLERGIES! The peanuts are nicely roasted, salted, and readily available. There is a huge barrel of peanuts by the door as well as handy pails you can carry with you while you wait or bring to your table once seated. The Margarita was decent. I have certainly had better but for a “house” margarita it was decent! The sour mix is not made fresh in house, it is a generic bottled mix. The bread and butter -the bread was super soft and hot! Fresh from the oven, since they were busy they had bread on constant rotation in the oven and it was good! The butter is served a bit too chilled for my liking, I think it should spread a little easier but that is just personal preference. When my fajitas came out I was excited. I could finally hear, smell, and see what I drove all the way to Tyrone for. The sound of the sizzling cast iron accompanied by the smell of seared chicken wafting through the air is certainly cause for excitement. Even though I had not the best experience during this visit, the fajitas never disappoint. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection, not rubbery or underdone. The veggies that are served on the skillet – onion and peppers- could stand to cook a little longer. I feel they are a bit underdone for my taste. The sides could/toppings that are served with the fajita are always wilted or frozen, I have yet to receive good toppings on a first try, I always have to ask for new ones. That being said, they do bring out fresh lettuce and not iced sour cream – once you ask.  Overall, this is one of the better places to get fajitas in the Tampa Bay Area. Cody’s could do some improving but for the price point and the serving size it’s a decent family restaurant. Keep in mind every Wednesday is BOGO fajita day! Be prepared for a wait – and a good fajita!

First time at this place and decided to go for Burger week. We arrived Sunday around noon so the crowd was not too bad. The atmosphere was casual and had a festive Halloween decor. I ordered the 1/2 pound steak burger with mushrooms and double cheese and my boyfriend ordered the full 1 pound Cody's steak burger. They arrived quickly. Both looked incredible but while my mashed potatoes were very hot, my burger (ordered medium rare) was cold as were the mushrooms on top. Our server was very pleasant but nobody on the staff was in a hurry to go anywhere. It took longer to get a beer than it did to get our food. They were however served with a clever little brown bag around them which while cute, was also clever ad it soaked up the sweat on the bottle. Overall it was a pleasant experience but not exceptional. The place seemed clean and not sure what the rest rooms were like because I did not use them. My boyfriend did enjoy his burger but for obvious reasons was unable to eat the whole thing. It came adorned with a large onion ring under the top of the bun; very cool presentation. He was offered a to go box but we declined. Although we didn't order dessert, the table next to us did and it was the largest slice of chocolate cake I've ever seen. It's a great place for the elderly and kids and is moderately priced.

The original post is from around 6-4: We sat at a booth in the bar area. Bartenders were busy, which led to a slow initial greeting. Service did improve and became attentive. Hubby had their fish sandwich, which was huge. The fish over hung the bun. I was deciding between their 10oz top sirloin $10.99 or a bourbon sirloin 10oz $16.99. I wanted extra flavor, so I went with the bourbon sirloin tip cooked medium. Hubby enjoyed his food. I, on the other hand, did not have the best flavorful experience. My steak was overcooked and missing the bourbon flavor. The only taste I had was the smoke from the grilling. The bartender did offer to return it, but I said, "Don't worry, I'll make do." I remembered stories (from a different restaurant employee) of what happened to patrons food if they sent it back, so I didn't want to take any chances. Overall, the service was good. Just need more flavor on the specialty foods. Cody's Roadhouse is an ok neighborhood place to eat. 6-18-23 EDIT: On June 6th, Cody's contacted me regarding my less than satisfactory visit. I replied to them as requested, but as of this date, I still have not heard back from them!

Would be 5 ⭐️ had we had a good server for my last Mother’s Day with my daughter. Our first time here & I picked this out of all restaurants in the area for this special occasion.

Service: “Mosuyo” (sp?) was inattentive, unfriendly, impatient, nonengaging & seemed disinterested when we asked for any suggestions. Our friendliness was not reciprocated &we were met with seemingly having annoyed & got on his nerves for asking about his cool name, where he’s from, his entree recommendations, his dessert recommendations. He did keep drinks full at first but we had to ask for last 2 refills. We also saw the metal bucket on the table asked if we could get peanuts 🥜 he said yes, but never brought them. When my daughter was trying to decide what to order, he made her feel like her request for his recommendation had gotten on his last nerves & he made feel rushed. Seemed “snippy “, short-tempered, like in a bad mood, we cancelled reservations at a fine dining restaurant because these reviews were so great. When we ordered desserts is when he really seemed to be fed up with us taking up his table longer than he’d have liked. We still left him an 20% tip even after he had cleared the table of dishes, including a fork for her cake which after him never coming back around to ask him for one… my daughter had to walk over to the busy TO GO lady to ask for a fork which she had to go and get herself amidst all her duties. It’s important to mention we didn’t feel singled out by him it just seems this was his personality in general even to other patrons. Definitely 💯 should NOT be working FRONT of the house face to face with customers. BACK of the house would be much more appropriate so not there ruining peoples dining experiences, and especially special occasions with his noncaring disinterested flat affect and blahhh demeanor.A “happy Mother’s Day” wish would have been nice.

I would have appreciated for Mothers Day a pleasant friendly welcoming smiling, glad we were there, energetic server who made us feel welcome, took care of our refills without us having to call him over to ask for them, one who offered refills and more rolls when we ran out, but we had to ask for replenishment of both. Also why you bring 3 rolls for 2 people? We gotta wrestle for the 1?? 💪🏼 🔪 🥊 they were tasty enough to tangle with somebody over 🥯

Grub: Ribeye, Mac cheese, country fried steak, rolls, pepper gravy, Cody’s steak sauce, chocolate cake, cheesecake & baked potato were delicious.

Return? it’s unfortunate I picked a restaurant for this special dinner from my daughter to celebrate Mother’s Day that seated us in his section. His demeanor and behaviors definitely took away from the enjoyment and experience. BUT I would gladly give it another shot, the food was THAT good! I would NOT subject myself to the same server. I may do a TO GO order even. The disappointment of the service here was far outweighed by the quality of the food, the ambiance and the friendliness of everyone except...

Thursday night, 7pm. Unsure how long the wait for a table was since it was just me and I found one of two seats at the packed bar. Didn't have to wait too long for my server and she was great. Ordered the bacon wrapped ribeye, 6oz since I don't eat much at a single sitting. I asked to skip the bacon as I don't care for it over powering the taste of my steak. Asked if it could be seared in the garlic butter instead. House salad was served promptly. I can imagine some folks wouldn't like the large amount of dressing that it's tossed in but I thought it was good; I love thin sliced onions in my salads. Steak was cooked to order but was not seared in the garlic butter, they served that on the side. When I dipped my steak in it you would hardly know there was any garlic in it at all, a big disappointment. My main complaint about the food though is that the mashed potatoes, although real, are super bland. No hint of sour cream or any other flavors. This place was very loud. A Lightning game was on each TV but that wasn't the problem, I like hockey enough. It was that every other table seemed to have at least one person yelling at the top of their lungs to the person right next to them. I ate and got out quickly. Thank you to my server/bartender but I won't be back. The food is average at best and it's not a place to really enjoy a meal. Oh, here's something sort of funny; the guy who sat down next me at the bar with his friend after someone had left ate with his elbow straight out towards me and it swooped over my plate with every single bite. It was like an old man's version of dinner table manspreading. He was super excited about the salad too, exclaimed to his friend that it even had a jalapeno in it. Y'all it was a banana pepper. Not my crowd. EDIT: 2nd visit was no better. Kudos to service staff, thank you for your effort Chris but I was expecting a steakhouse server to be much more confident about steak recommendations. I haven't the faintest clue what BOH thinks they're doing with this high priced food. Also, why was my poor server required to write their name + manager's name on my paper table cloth? Eeew. This is turning out to be a glorified Applebee's with yuckier atmosphere where the theme seems to be playing a song halfway through while you try your best to tune out EVERYONE YELLING NEARBY. big...
