I stayed at this particular location while in the midst of a multi day business meeting. My experience here was quite good, and while I didn't have many needs, each and every staff member I encountered was courteous and took care of the needs I asked about. I admit I'm not used to the service at breakfast, as they cared for my coffee refills and dirty plates, better than many restaurants. The breakfast food itself doesn't stand out from other hotels, but it wasn't worse, either. It had the basics of eggs, bacon or sausage, and the basic pastry and dairy options. The coffee was perfectly fine, but the cups are small, lol. (No, I wouldn't mark down for that) The location is in the midst of other hotels, is close to the outer belt of Columbus, and didn't have loud outdoor noises, which is good. I heard that it had been through an update or remodel in recent years, and I think the furnishings and the general condition of the hotel reflect that. I liked the layout of my room, and the furnishings all worked. It was nice that the lamps had usb ports, which were useful for charging devices. The temperature also was constant. This is where some difficulty lies. On the one hand, I am accustomed to the individual room temperature controls resulting in being awakened by units turning on and off through the night. That does not happen here, which is good. Not sure how to describe it... You know that noise at many hotels when you can tell someone on another floor is showering by the sound of the water supply going through the pipes? It sounded like that ..but it was constant, and never stopped. It wasn't horrible, and being constant, it ended up a kind of white noise I guess. My biggest challenge with my room was that it was breezy while I was there. I was on the third floor, and I thought I was hearing the high pitched whine of traffic outside my window. The first night I slept horribly. The second evening I realized my window would open, and as soon as I opened the window, the sound stopped... Did I not mention it was January? Basically if the window was closed and latched, there was a whistle around the window. If, however, I unlatched the window and slid it open a half inch, the noise stopped. The window was still technically "closed," with no light gap at all but it did allow a minimal amount of air to go around that part of the window (vs forcing around the top and whistling), but there was no cold breeze or anything. So, in the end, it was really the noise in my room that lowered my rating. I suppose I could have and maybe should have said something at front desk, but honestly, I'm not a person who complains, and I really couldn't see where anything could be done, other than something sloppy like duct taping around the window, lol. I'm probably more sensitive to noises than most. This was a very positive experience, and I would stay at this hotel again, but I typically don't sleep well away from home anyway, and the noises in my room made that process harder still. That said, I still consider 4 stars quite good, and my rating is higher than the average. I wish I could give it 4.5, but alas, I cannot. I had no experience with the indoor pool or the exercise room, but both looked nice.

As a Marriot member and frequent traveler, I’m shocked at how awful this property was kept. I know this property is old. I’ve grown up in this area and have seen the changes throughout the years. It does appear renovated for sure. But NOT kept up or maintained. Unless it’s the lobby. ||Let’s start with the positives. |Friendly staff upon check in. They did kindly switch our room after one night. And the GM was kind enough to comp one nights stay and give us some Marriott points after our stay when we spoke to her of the conditions of our rooms. ||The beds were nice and comfortable with the exception of the stains on the top sheet of one queen when we switched to the second room. The bathroom seemed updated and up to my standards for Marriott. Property is old so the ceilings are low and I could touch them and I’m 5’4. ||They were not able to accommodate an earlier check-in for us, which was fine. When we came back late in the evening with our kids, we were exhausted. Getting off the elevator on floor six, the carpet look like it had not been vacuumed in a week. Our room door was beat up and needed to be repaired and painted. Upon opening the door to room 615, which was the family suite I chose, I immediately was hit in the face with the odor of cat urine. I followed the smell directly into the bedroom where the kids were going to be sleeping, which was carpeted. It was late at night. We just wanted to go to bed and our kids did not want to switch rooms at that point. The bathroom sink filled up to the top of the countertop immediately and was clogged when two kids brushed their teeth. My husband had to stick his hand in there and open up the drain. Our kids fell into bed and went to sleep and when I woke up, I could see the stains all over the carpet in our room, the floor looks like it had not been mopped at all in months. There were brown stains on the laminate. The kids bedroom reeked of cat pee. The sofa was so filled with stains and was so disgusting. I would not even sit on there therefore we could not use it to pull out as a bed. That’s when I noticed the sides/arms of the sofa which had been clawed by cats. As a very particular cat owner, I’m well aware of what that looks like on furniture. So that was a dead giveaway that I was smelling in the back bedroom was correct. ||The very next morning, my husband went down immediately and asked to switch rooms and they kindly gave us the room directly below us. The hallway, which still wasn’t vacuumed on that floor either, and the trash was piling out of the trashcan at the elevators. The room at least didn’t smell like cat pee, but again the laminate floor was absolutely disgusting, and I have the pictures to prove it and the stains on it along with the carpeting. It looked like there was blood splatter on the blinds in the master room, and my son had a disgusting stain on the top of his queen size bed sheet. |Our bathroom kept smelling like raw sewage and we weren’t sure why until we realized the caulking around the toilet. Looks like a five-year-old did it with Play-Doh and was leaking every time we flushed onto the floor I’ve got pictures of that as well. Somehow, our fire alarm was going off when I tried to dry my hair because there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. The metal decor was pulling off of the doors. Pink stains on the carpeting and on the couch and the chair. |Honestly, we were there for the pool so my family could enjoy time together outdoors. ||The outdoor pool was decent, although it needed to be redone on the bottom because it was very much worn out. The indoor pool had a film across the top of the water .||Let’s just say I could not wait to get out of there and get home and wash all of our clothes in hot water and take a hot clean shower. I felt dirty, gross and disgusted the entire time I was there unless I was walking through the lobby. ||I’d also like to say I had to finish my week out at another Sheraton in Pennsylvania and it was a five star review even though they had construction going on inside and outside of the building. It was still a wonderful experience compared to this one...

I would like to regretfully inform you of my most recent experience at one of the SPG hotels. We recently stayed at the Sheraton Suites in Columbus Ohio. We have a family of 6, four children and two adults. This is often hard to accommodate, many times we have to get two rooms related to the size of our family and we are very understanding of the need to do this and to pay for extra space. However, when we were informed of the need to stay in this hotel for our most recent tournament requirement we were also informed that there were rooms that had two double beds and one pull out couch that would accommodate our family. After my husband called to book the rooms when the confirmation email came, we realized the wrong dates were booked. We called back to fix this and after further discussion we were informed that these rooms were not available for our stay. We ended up being booked for 2 King rooms on only one night, and the team manager informed us of this, instead of two nights and we had to call the manager to get the matter resolved appropriately. Thankfully Bryant, the director of sales could change our initial issues and he took GREAT care of us via telephone and assured us that this would not be a problem upon arrival.

Upon arrival to the hotel we were greeted appropriately, and I thought that our stay would be better than the issues we encountered during booking. The room was available at the scheduled time, but many of the people in our group did not have a room at check in time. One mom with a newborn infant had to sit in our room for over an hour waiting for her room to be ready for check-in. I understand that the hotel was busy with cheer and hockey families for the weekend, but this is no reason or excuse for poor customer service. Within hours of being at the hotel, our key cards became inactivated while we were in the swimming pool. We tried to get new cards at the desk and I was told that we needed my husband to get the cards. I could provide the name and home address as well as our phone number and I had his photo ID, but they made me go back up and get him to come back down to get the keys reactivated. (The keys becoming deactivated happened at least 3 times during our 2 day stay).

The heat did not work in the guest room, we were freezing and they only provided a small sheet for the pull-out bed making it for a very cold night for 2 of my children. Additionally, when we asked for more blankets we were told they were not available.

The provided breakfast with our rooms was not at all worth any extra money spent on the room. Cold cereal with warm milk and some bagels was all that was available, unless we paid extra for the hot buffet that was provided by the hotel. When we stayed at the hotels in Cleveland and in Detroit for the same tournament put on by hockey time productions, we received hot breakfast all four times that was included in our room rates.

On Saturday, we spent the entire day out of the room, from about 10:00 am – 6:00pm and when we returned the room had not been cleaned. The trash had not been removed, we had no clean towels, the beds were not made, and we also again could not enter our room with our key cards. When we called for service, someone dropped us a few trash bags and that was our “service”. I then had to call for towels and to request for the room to be vacuumed. No one cleaned or wiped down anything in our room at all.

This is not only concerning for our own health, but with many children running around and with animals that stay in the hotel, the cleanliness should be most important! Also with so many kids and families that are in the hotel, many communicable diseases can be spread just by a touch of a door or pushing the button in the elevator. If NONE of the rooms are cleaned, are any of these things cleaned??

I am absolutely disgusted by this hotel and if I was not REQUIRED to stay both night for my child to play I...
