Insulted by a woman on the kitchen staff because I have diabetes, and couldn’t eat an apple after they ran out of chips. I didn’t even complain or anything.
Preface: For 9 years, I haven’t eaten sugar. I keep my sugar levels very low to avoid insulin spikes.
When I walked away with two Green Goddess salads that I bought for breakfast — I heard the kitchen staff woman say, “he couldn’t even eat an apple??”
I was fine with that. But when I got to my table, neither of the salads had chicken on them. They were Cobb chicken salads. So I had to go back.
When I did, I pointed out that the salads didn’t have chicken and asked if they were supposed to. She said, “yeah.”
And then I mentioned, “I haven’t eaten sugar for years because I have diabetes. That’s why I declined the apple.”
The kitchen staff woman said, “Apples don’t have sugar in them.”
And I said, “I’m not sure what you mean. They have about 30-40 grams of fructose.”
And she said, “No, my grandma has diabetes. Apples are natural. They don’t have sugar.”
So, I’m waiting there at the pickup counter, just trying to get my Chicken Cobb salads with chicken on them… and she’s still educating me about how apples don’t have sugar, so I must be lying to her. I’m looking around in disbelief.
The other staff are starting to say, “Don’t argue with him??”
I reached a point where I realized she was telling me how diabetes works and also telling me what I can and can’t eat, when I’m just trying to get her to fix the salad the right way. And then I’m like, she’s never going to learn from this situation or how to respect others unless I just ask for my money back.
Two Chicken Cobb Salads without chicken. Kitchen ran out of chips and the day hasn’t even started. Clearly apples don’t have sugar in them. And I’m lying about having diabetes.
Donated to Autism for the second time on my way out. I hope someone with more empathy gives this place...
Read moreWorst experience ever at this location. Celebrated b’days with friends and was treated like an inconvenience. Service and food were unexceptable for this upscale mall location. Only one person changing trash liner at the evenings end was very courteous and friendly. ,but he food we ordered was poorly made. and upon leaving,my friend kindly acknowledged the girls behind counter, with one answering back ‘YEP’ very’ snidely to my friend’s thank you. Very UNprofessional experience and again food was not up to Panera quality that I know otherwise is good.
BTW.... I ordered the Chicken Avacado Melt that I love and there was NO avacado and barely a shred of chicken...and I mean a shred! Returned to the counter without even complaining about the lack of chicken and explained that my avocado had been left off so as the girl was adjusting my order she proceeded to squeeze and smash both sides of the avocado out of the peel and placed each one without slicing by using the palm of her hand to attempt making it fit under my bread, I guess using a knife to slice the halves was to much to ask for at this Panera. My one friend ordered the Frontega Chicken sandwich and notice with laughter that she had a few extra shreds more of the chicken compared to mine. Very very Skimpy portions as if it were all that was left so they rashened it between us to keep from preparing more. Another friend had soup and salad and was somewhat satisfied with food ,but not service, she mentioned Westerville location was much much better with food and service. By the way, they were not busy either and I can understand why!! We will never eat at this location again ,this will be the last time to have girl time ever...
Read moreI purchased a gift card for $50 few months ago. I have using this card to buy tea etc. The card number is wearing off, the machine is not able to read it when I swiped few times. I have $$$ left on the card. When I asked the worker, then manager what if the numbers won't be read by the machine when I come next to Panera. The manager's response was there is nothing they can do, I would loose the money. That is a very irresponsible answer by the manager, I had to talk to her 10 minutes if she could bring it to the attention of the staff above her, her response was come back tomorrow morning when the supervisor is here and talk with her. I asked if she could discuss and find out a solution. She said the supervisor cannot do anything. She cannot issue a new card or refund the money left on my gift card. She was extremely negative, refused to see my side of the truth, she didn't care if I ever purchase gift cards for me again or not. I could not believe the way how she was trying to frustrate me. I thanked her with a smile and left because I love Panera. I have going to Panera for more than 10 years. I won't stop going there because I am a loyal customer. If Panera can find a solution for those gift card numbers beginning to wear out by returning the remaining balance as cash. Customers like me will continue to buy gift cards and use the wonderful food, tea, coffee...
