I didn't care for the service or meal. No one in line but us and we were passed by several times before a lady stopped and said how many, I said just us 2. We were seated asked what we would like to drink, Pepsi and coffee, she dropped off the Pepsi never brought my coffee, we sat there for about 15 minutes before she came back, we ordered tenderloin tips over mashed potatoes, veggies and prime rib sandwich with salad bar. She said we could help ourselves to the salad bar. Which we did. I thought well if they were making a fresh pot of coffee it should be done by now so I stopped a server girl and asked for my coffee, she in turn goes to the waitress who originally waited on us and said something they turn and look at us. Then the one that seated us I said can I please get the coffee I ordered, she finally brought my coffee. 2 other couples came in after us and was seated and served drinks and the mini loads of bread, right away we never received the mini loaf, it should have came with the tenderloin tips dinner. I watched the other 2 couples get their meal before we did. Even tho they came in after us. Finally our meal arrived. Tenderloin tips, we counted them there was 4 small tips and the rest was mushrooms and gravy over potatoes and very few veggies. Prime rib sandwich, bread wasn't toasted, one very thin slice of Prime rib with a big chunk of fat at the end. The fat was a quarter of my sandwich. Never checked on us after our meal was served. I had to wave down another waitress for a refill of Pepsi and coffee. They weren't that busy. The only good thing there was the salad bar. I only left a 6.00 tip because we should of been...
Read moreWhat an incredible experience at Anello's Torch Lite! The sign by the road is classic and doesn't appear to have changed at all from the 1970's or 1980's. However, the exterior facade is gorgeous and appears to be recently renovated with layers of whitewashed stone. The interior is truly a mix of old and new, eclectic and modern, artistic, whimsical, earthy and fun. There were etched goblets for water, airy open spaces, an incredible varnished and shellacked "inside of a tree count-the-rings" irregular wood bench, a knight in armor guarding the door, a ceiling-high clear board waterfall and the list goes on and on. What an interesting and dynamic environment. To think, I was here for dinner with family after my grandmother's funeral. One of the members of our family had the "cod special" and remarked, "This is the best cod I've had in all my life. Honestly!" He is a former internal medicine doctor and has lived over 70 years. His remark is truly saying something considering how many times he has eaten in his life. Experience and wisdom with age! My walleye was incredibly well-prepared and visually appealing. Anello's is everything you could want in a restaurant and more. A true "diamond in the rough". If you are debating over places, go here. We did and we're glad we did. We hope you are as pleasantly...
Read moreThe Torch Lite definitely provides the quintessential Wisconsin Supper Club experience. Friday night fish fry with a brandy old fashioned, of course! We had the AYCE cod which comes with choice of potato, mini cole slaw, a mini loaf of warm bread served table side, and a trip to the salad bar. And, a lovely salad bar it is, featuring supper club crackers and bread sticks with cheese spread, liver pate spread, garlic toast, pickled beats, and the usual salad fixings. They filled the plate with cod and fries, so after the salad bar most people will be challenged to finish the main entre of fish. I'm not most people, (kind of a beast, if you must know), so I ordered more cod. They delivered seven more pieces, but they are about one third the size of a traditional cod fillet. I, however, enjoyed that aspect, because the smaller pieces are more readily hand held. They don't fall apart while you dip them in the delicious tartar sauce, for example. The new owners run the place well because the service went very smoothly. It's more of modern building with high ceilings giving it an open and airy feel. Apparently, the previous owners had a small menagerie of exotic animals out back. We saw a lone camel during our visit. I wouldn't get too close though... I hear those things can...
