Title: A Delightful Experience at El Rancho Viejo - Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Sheboygan Falls
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Rancho Viejo, a Mexican restaurant located in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. From the moment I stepped inside, I was met with a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a wonderful dining experience.
To begin, the complimentary chips and salsa provided a fantastic start to the meal. The chips were fresh, crispy, and perfectly salted, while the salsa had just the right amount of spice and flavor. It was evident that both the chips and salsa were made in-house, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and authenticity.
For my main course, I opted for the chimichanga dinner, accompanied by refried beans and rice as side dishes. The chimichanga was beautifully presented, with a golden, crispy exterior and a flavorful, tender filling. It was generously filled with seasoned shredded chicken and melted cheese, creating a delightful combination of textures and tastes. The dish was not overly greasy, which allowed the flavors to shine through. The refried beans were creamy and well-seasoned, while the rice was fluffy and infused with a subtle hint of spices. The portion sizes were generous, leaving me feeling satisfied and content.
One aspect that stood out during my visit was the prompt and attentive service. Despite the restaurant being moderately busy, I was seated immediately upon arrival, and my order was taken promptly. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests, enhancing the overall dining experience.
The ambiance at El Rancho Viejo was peaceful and conducive to a quiet dinner. The dim lighting, comfortable seating, and tasteful Mexican decor created a cozy and inviting setting. It was easy to have conversations without feeling overwhelmed by noise, providing a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Another notable aspect was the efficiency of the service. My dinner arrived promptly after placing the order, indicating a well-organized kitchen and staff. The food was served hot and fresh, showcasing the attention to detail and dedication of the restaurant's team.
In conclusion, El Rancho Viejo in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, impressed me with its authentic Mexican cuisine, attentive service, and inviting ambiance. The chips and salsa provided a flavorful appetizer, while the chimichanga dinner with refried beans and rice sides was a delicious and satisfying choice. The quiet and prompt dining experience further enhanced my overall enjoyment. I highly recommend El Rancho Viejo to anyone seeking an exceptional Mexican dining experience in the Sheboygan Falls area.

Read moreWent to try this place out Thursday. Arrived just after they opened at 4PM. We were the only customers there. Nice looking place, big bar and, a lot of room. We sat at the bar to have a couple of drinks before dinner. There was a young lady behind the bar preparing for the evening's business. She came over right away and took our drink order. I ordered a Margarita, which happened to be the day's special and, my wife ordered a beer. One thing I noticed, she poured my drink from a pitcher that was covered with cellophane and, there was a large urn also with Margaritas in. Not sure if the pitcher was left-overs from the previous day or what, but, there was an after-taste that I never had anywhere else. Kind of reminded me of the solution they use to clean glassware except, when we eventually got our second drink, she poured it in my same glass (with permission) and it tasted the same. Now, after we had finished our first drink, we pushed our empties forward, so she should have known to ask if we wanted another. That never happened. She, and another girl whom I assume she was training, walked by us several times and never said a word. They answered the phone and took care of a walk-in to-go order also during that time, but, they had plenty of time to fill our drinks. I had to ask for another round. There were another two couples that came in and sat at the bar. Their first round was also quick to come. One of the men ordered a Margarita, but, in a mug. Now, I wasn't sure why, but, she poured that one from the urn when there was plenty left in the same pitcher she poured mine from. Was the pitcher for the “special” Margaritas? I can't say. It just seemed funny to me. Anyway, I guess they don't expect you would want another drink, so they don't bother to ask. We drank some of our second drink then took them into the dining area where we were seated right away. Our server showed up quickly and greeted us, gave us chips and salsa and asked if we were ready to order. We asked for more time, so she went to care for some other people that had come in. She came back in 5 minutes and we ordered. I like Fajitas so, that is what I ordered. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for our food to arrive. The first plate of mine had rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole and, sour cream, the usual fare. When she brought the sizzling one with the rest, I had to look twice. The peppers and onions were cut very big. I'd say the pepper pieces were close to an eighth of the whole, and the onions were close. If, I was to try to construct the Fajita as it should be, it would have been impossible. The meats were cooked very well and were tasty. And, the steak was more tender than what I have had other places. I will say, the flavor was very good and, the portions were generous but, there was a large amount of the cooking oil remaining. I think it could have been...

We ordered our drinks & food together. Another 10 minutes we had no drinks, not even the water we requested. A table was sat across from us a few minutes after we arrived. They had their drinks immediately. After approx 15 minutes our food came, still no margaritas on the Rocks. Finally we got water & margaritas. They were pure alcohol. While some might like this, I did not. I WATERED mine down twice!! The food was good. We were done eating, Plates pushed aside & Finally had to ask for the check. We asked 2 different people for additional chips & NEVER got them. There were 5 ladies who just stood outside the kitchen entrance. 1 waitress seemed to be handling everything. We politely told her twice how unhappy we were with the service. She said nothing!! Reading the reviews I see a common problem. People liked this place previously, but SERVICE HAS GONE DOWNHILL. When we walked into the place there was no getting. We asked a CHILD if we could sit down. I planned on bringing a group here next Friday after rummage saling all day. We'll go to Plymouth. Much better service. I don't care how good the food is, this is good, not spectacular. I will not give business to a place with bad service. Eswhen they weren't busy & 5 employees are standing around doing NOTHING. We left a small tip & sad face to express our dissatisfaction. Not sure if she was not understanding us. Our chips, only a handful to begin with, never filled. I asked twice, held up the basket & was ignored!! If you want good service go somewhere else!!
We were in there approximately 2 p.m. on a Saturday. We were the only 2 customers. Food was very good. Service was good. It's in beautiful downtown Falls. A great area for an after meal walk & stop back for dessert! My only disappointment, that many may not view this as a disappointment. My on the rocks margarita was very strong. To the point of being too much alcohol and...
