Ratings Overview: ⢠Apple Maps: 92% approval (13 ratings) ⢠Google Maps: 4.3 stars (259 reviews) I visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening and was immediately struck by how empty it wasâa concerning sign during prime dinner hours. The establishment has more of a bar-like atmosphere, which could work for some, but it didnât align with my expectations. Cost: ⢠Total: $31.31 (plus a $5 tip) paid upfrontâan unusual practice for a sit-down restaurant. Order placed at 6:25 PM. Wisconsin Cheese Curds, Taylor Street Deep Dish Pizza and a fountain drink.
Food & Service Experience:
Beverages: The restaurant has a self-serve beverage station, which is fine in theory, but my experience left much to be desired. I initially chose orange Powerade, only to notice strange specks floating in the drink. I asked for a new cup and switched to lemonade, but this wasnât the best first impression.
Wisconsin Cheese Curds ($8.99): I received the curds quickly, which suggests they were likely frozen. The plate contained 18 small curdsâcomparable to what youâd get at Culverâs for less money. Unfortunately, the flavor didnât hold up either. They tasted starchy and lacked the authentic Wisconsin cheese curd texture, more akin to standard mozzarella sticks. Culverâs does it better, both in quality and value.
10â Deep Dish Taylor Street Pizza ($14.69 + $5.99 deep-dish surcharge): The pizza arrived at 6:47 PM. First Impressions: It looked unappealing. The menuâs photo looked promising , but what I received was burnt-red and sloppily assembled. ⢠Upon lifting a slice, I noticed moisture pooling in the panâunappetizing and a clear indicator of poor preparation. ⢠The crust was a major disappointment. Thick and undercooked, it seemed rushed in the oven, likely at too high a temperature. It was unenjoyable and ultimately not worth eating. ⢠The toppings were sparse and lacked flavor, except for the peppers, which gave their typical, spicy flavor. Even as a Wisconsinite, I found myself wishing there was less cheese.
Overall, the pizza was mediocre at best. At $21, I expected something far superior. Instead, it reminded me of a $10 frozen pizza from Walmart.
Additionally, when the pizza was brought to my table, the server handed me a serrated knife and fork with her bare hands. They werenât wrapped in a napkin as is standard at most restaurants. While Iâm not much of a germaphobe, this felt like a lapse in proper hygiene and professionalism.
Additional Notes: ⢠The square table I sat at was unsteady, making it inconvenient to rest my arms or safely place drinks. ⢠The orange drink I ordered had black specks in it, prompting me to switch to lemonade.
Conclusion: The menu claims this is their âfamous pizza,â but if thatâs true, Iâm left wondering why. Should I have tried the flat crust instead? If this is their flagship offering, itâs easy to see why some people dislike this style of pizza. I didnât absolutely hate my meal, but I wouldnât hesitate to throw it away, especially...
Read moreLegitimately one of the best burgers I've ever had. I ordered the Fire burger which had pepperjack and jalapeĂąos. I have a high spice tolerance and did wonder just how hot could it be? Cuz you know, sometimes jalapeĂąos aren't spicy at all. But this burger was perfectly seasoned. Perfectly medium rare. Perfectly THIAQQ & juicey patty. Perfectly mouth tingling with spice! I cut the burger in half to see the layers and could not even take a picture cuz the burger DEMANDED that I devour it immediately. I think I involuntarily let out an indecent moan. Sorry! đŹ But it was just SO GOOD!
At first I was gonna complain that the fries were undersalted/underseasoned BUT with how flavorful the burger is, the fries became a welcome contrast to give my mouth a break from the burger tingle.
My friend and I came on a Wednesday so it was $4 Mule night. I love a good, classic mule, but decided to be adventurous and ordered their mango habenero mule, which was also DELISH. Subtly fruity. An understated smokey spice that was refreshing and gulp-worthy! It reminded me of this cocktail I had at Bryant's Cocktail Lounge in MKE called the bonecrusher, but this mule was more up my alley with the mango.
I am definitely coming back and I 10/10 highly recommend to anyone wanting a...
Read moreThis is a little hidden gem in Sheboygan. Went there on Memorial Day, after the parade. We had a party of seven and they put 4 tables together on the patio for us. Very accommodating to our desires.
We had burgers, wraps, pizza, wings and beer bites plus drinks.
The thin crust pizza was great. We were not hungry enough for the Chicago deep dish, but we will be going back to try that soon.
Burgers were great and there was some confusion about one order. They apologized and immediately fixed the problem. They want their customers to be happy and it shows.
The spicy wings satisfied our fire breathing hot sauce expert.
The real stars of the show were the Beer Bite cheese curds and the Blueberry Margaritas. They both make you wonder how they can taste so good!
There was a power failure that tanked their credit card system so we had to pay in cash. There was an onsite ATM, so that was a just a small inconvenience.
Pop's is definitely on our, "will be going back" list. Do yourself a favor and put it on your...
