Stopped for lunch with the family and we were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, great menu, great prices, and fantastic staff. The food was far better than we expected. I have searched for years to find the perfect Hot Chicken and finally found what I have been looking for. Nashville claims to have great Hot Chicken, but Urban Plantation in small town Shelbyville takes the win. Everyone at our table had to taste everything we ordered. Kudos to the cooks. Outstanding food!
Our amazing server, Sandy, was probably the best waitress I have ever had. She was kind, funny, and had that "Cool Aunt" vibe. Thank you Sandy for an amazing experience. Also, the man working at the register made us feel like he was happy we were there. Great sense of humor. A real Gem.
There's also a really cool little store attached to the restaurant that has an apothecary feel to it. Dangerous territory for someone like myself. I wanted to buy everything.

Read moreThis place was a delightful surprise in my travels! I like to try local restaurants, but am sometimes shy about doing it because I’ve had bad experiences in the past. But after finding the restaurant on Google Maps, I asked a local and got a big thumbs up. I was NOT disappointed! The pork chop was on special ($9.99!) and it was delicious! I got a French green beans and squash casserole along with it....and I ate every bite! They don’t serve wine, but I had a bottle that they let me open for a corkage fee. Dinner was so good that I ordered a half salad with a grilled chicken breast for lunch the next day! I had all of that for around $25! If I’m ever in Shelbyville again, I will look forward to going back. And I got to meet the owner/chef, Martha, and she was awesome. You won’t be sorry if you...
Read moreService was great and the apple walnut salad was delicious with the maple dressing. They don't have a kids menu so paying 9.00 for a burger they are not going to finish stinks but kids loved the fries. They do have a grilled cheese for kids (half for 3.99). Husband got a steak and he said it was good. It was a thin steak not very thick at all. I believe we were over charged also as kept looking at the menu for prices. After getting home we added up to $45 and they rang us up for $67. But not 100% sure so....we will try again as we love supporting local companies. We are all human beings so...
