We used to love coming to the Southern Cup (I remember when they opened; I was a customer their first week!), but in the last three years it seems like every time we get a latte, it tastes quite different ā and not in a ādifferent beanā type of way. The consistency in how itās prepared, the amount of milk, the amount of flavoring, etc. was just off depending on which barista happened to be working.
For a while, I was able to identify if I was going to get a āgoodā coffee or not by who was working, and I could avoid ordering a latte if certain people were going to be making it. However, the lack of consistency caused us to slowly come less and less frequently and today is the last time. :(
The last latte (from today) ā even cold ā tasted burnt in a way that was like the machine hadnāt been cleaned out properly or was really old. For me, thatās to the point where itās undrinkable, and Iām just not able to spend $5-7 on coffee if I cannot even choke it down. Iām still buying local coffee and not a chain, as I prefer local, but I wonāt be back here for some time.
Honestly, Iām really sad about this. I contemplated whether or not to write a review, but my hope is that with criticism changes can be made for the better. Sending TSC owners, managers & staff all the love and hoping consistency will be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt doesn't happen all the time but there's a young girl here that thinks she can talk anyway she feels. Today, I was up there getting my normal frappa in a great mood. Anyhow I ordered my drink the same as always and my aunt said from the speaker playing around and she said add carmal. So, the young girl did and I noticed it. I told her I would try it. Well needless to say I didn't care for it. I brought it back laughing and playing around I figured she would understand the problem and have no issue with fixing my normal drink. She talks to me as if I was a kid needing a punishment a scolding. I'm sorry when I pay 10 for a drink I don't want a lecture or punishment because, she messed up. I honestly, do like this place but, this is not my 1st time being treated as if I am a kid in need of a timeout. I give them good money and I did not try to disrespect her but, you cannot disrespect me either. I honestly have a hard time going to this coffee shop anymore because, it seems like I'm gonna get lectured, scolded and yelled at and I thought it would be no problem because, she added the carmal and I was going to just try it out since it happened that way but, really come on I am the customer and she new she messed up but, to talk to me any olway just ain't right when you pay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a treasure. We need more Southern Cups popping up around Tennessee.
My first time visiting this quaint coffee shack was an excellent experience. They have an extensive menu of coffees and flavor add-ons. Plus, energy drink cocktails with unique "code" names to help regulars speed up their ordering process. I dig it. I dig it a lot, but I'm not a regular and first off, looking at that wall of text for a menu bright early in the morning made me go straight for my tried and true (caramel machiatto) without experimenting with any new coffees or flavors.
I'll have to come back.
I can really appreciate what Southern Cup has going on. Buy local folks!
My caramel machiatto was near perfection. The flavor was more robust than what a Dunkin Donuts offers and the drink itself was smoother than a Starbucks...
