My husband ordered a pancake combo (pancake, hashbrowns, bacon, and eggs). I ordered a pecan waffle only.
I'd like to say first that the waitress that takes the drinks is very kind. This was a Monday or Tuesday morning.
I bite into my waffle and immediately spit it out because it tastes like onions. This let's me know that the griddle was not properly cleaned. I catch the waitress that takes the food orders and ask her to take the waffle because it takes like onions. I say it discreetly and politely. My husband continues to eat his food. One thing that he does is eats his sides first. He finishes eating his hashbrowns, bacon and eggs, and goes to eat his pancake. He takes a bite... it's a long piece of brown hair cooked in it. The nice waitress who takes the drink orders walks past, I let her know. I follow her to the register as she had to update the bill.
The nice waitress has to call over the manager to process the transaction, which will now be free. The waitress who took our order is now at the register as well. (Manager, drink waitress and food waitress are all standing there). The manager and drink waitress are trying to cancel out the bill. I say thank you and begin to go back to my husband. The food waitress says "they waited to eat all of their food before saying something?!" I was livid by this point. I turned around and said "actually we didn't...my waffle tasted like onions, which meant you all didn't clean well. And my husband ate all of his sides first and bit into a pancake With hair cooked in it! " I said " I can show you the hair!, and since he did eat his sides, we can pay for that. I don't have a problem with that. I am not trying to get over on a $16 bill!!"
The manager insisted that it was okay. That we didn't have to pay. But the attitudes about everything, coupled with the unsanitary practices just turned us completely off from this place!
I will NEVER patronize Huddle House...

Read moreWe usually visit during morning hours and the food and service are always excellent. Decided to visit around 6:45pm tonight. I would have given one star but Michael saved you. Shelby was our server. She took our food order but Michael seated us, took drink order, brought the drinks, and brought the food to our table, while the other two young ladies stood behind the counter talking (or on their phones?). After the food hit the table we never got a visit from any of them, drinks empty. After finishing our meal I needed my check but Shelby was nowhere to be found. I went to the register and asked for it. At this time I explained to Michael and the other girl that I did not appreciate the poor service. He asked if Shelby was our server. I replied that I didn’t remember her name. He pointed outside and asked if that was her and I replied “yes”. She was outside on her phone while we ate our dinner without drink refills and no check to our table. As we were getting into our car, Michael was outside talking to Shelby, so I decided to observe. She continued to text while never looking up at him. He spent about 2 minutes and went back inside. I also left her a descent tip because no one deserves to be stiffed no matter how bad the service is. If we decide to return I would hope this young lady has been given strict expectations to follow and doing the job she was...
