Edit 2/1/2024: King gyros is back on the menu for me. New management/owners make some great food. I'm a big fan of their over rice options. super tasty. EDIT 12/17/2020: The food is the same but the preparation that goes into it has become sub par compared to what it was with the previous owners. I have decreased review from 5 stars to 3. 1) The french fries are admittedly better than the previous owners french fries, good job. 2) The Gyro pita needs to be toasted before the sandwich is put together. Otherwise you end up with a luke warm, doughy pita that frankly sucks. 3) The toasting of the bread applies to the sandwiches as well. "no I dont want my buns toasted" is not something that has been uttered by anyone, in the history of ever. 4) See the photo of the Italian beef & sausage combo that was served yesterday. Yes, all the ingredients for a proper beef and sausage are there, however the preparation of this simple sandwich could have not been more incorrect, aside from putting the ingredients on a bun, everything is wrong. Owners, please take note, this is how you make a beef and sausage combo. I grew up in Chicago, please trust me on this. Step one, lightly toast the bun. Just toss that thing face down on your griddle for like 10-15 seconds is most likely all you need. Step 2, Put the sausage on the bun. this is a critical step, the sausage needs to be at the bottom of the sandwich for the sandwich to have structural integrity. Step 3, now goes the Italian beef. Step 4, place hot peppers and or sweet peppers atop the beef, If someone wants onions, they go on now also. Step 5, Now goes the cheese. placing the cheese on last allows the cheese to melt because heat rises out of all the meat on the sandwich. the cheese helps "hold down" the peppers so you don't lose them with every bite. You will notice that the sandwich I received yesterday went, bun, cheese, beef, sausage, peppers. Not only did this make an already messy sandwich a nightmare to eat, the bun was not toasted, the sausage had turned luke warm because it had zero beef insulation, and because the bun was not toasted, the whole thing turned into a soggy mess the second I picked it up and the juice from the beef came pouring out across the table. The owners need to learn themselves how to prepare these meals, or teach their cooks how to make them. lastly, you guys have sped up the drive through which is nice, but I'm not sure if its because you're better at it, or if less time goes into food prep. Original post :Super tasty and a ton of food for what you pay.

I don't get to Shelbyville often but the "Best Catfish in Town/State/Midwest" on the marquee has always intrigued me. I didn't get the catfish but instead got a Chicago classic; Italian beef and sausage with hot peppers, dipped. I can't say enough good things about this place. My sandwich was great and exactly like I ordered. I've had Italian beef in Chicago that wasn't this good. The people were super friendly and helpful and the food came out very quickly. With this quality of food and service I don't know why this isn't the busiest place in Shelbyville. I'll definitely be back and probably pretty often even though it is an hours drive.

This was my first time coming here since the new management, and I have to say I'm VERY happy with it! The chicken over rice was a great recommendation from the staff (I got the spicy, and yeah, it's spicy!). The staff was very friendly, the food was ready quickly, and it is so so tasty. Can't wait to try some of the other stuff on the menu!

As a former employee for ~16 months, I feel like I am due to make an honest review for this place from an inside perspective.

To start: the food here is ok. Nothing was absolutely amazing except maybe the wings on a good day(try our pink sauce it's really good) but nothing was horrible (that I tried, I havent tried most rolls or any salads or wraps but had pretty much everything else). Sometimes the wait times would be unusually long for a simple order like a cheeseburger combo, but since you can see behind the counter, look to see if they're making it fresh as that will take longer and be better too. The fries have changed a lot, some better and some not so great, the ones now are about right in the middle. Portions are pretty good depending on who's preparing your food, and the dinners are quite interesting and pretty tasty (name another FAST FOOD restaurant that sells ribs and catfish). I'd give the food here a 7.5/10.

Working here was fun for the most part. Everyone was nice (well except those that didn't last long here) and is fun to be around, especially when we're cleaning for the night and I got metal blasting from the Amazon Echo they have. I never really hated doing anything in particular there; there's a lot to do but most of it is pretty simple. Even though we have very few people working(at most 3 per shift most of the time unless we're training someone new), we somehow managed to make it work and not feel like we're being overworked(I can't speak for others so that's just my take on it). I'd give working here a 9.5/10. Just don't slack off and do what you're asked, and if you dont know what to do, just ask.

Side note: I left right before the AC stopped working there, and yes there is a 3.1% checkout fee IF YOU USE A CARD, you can avoid this fee by...

I am not picky by any means but I ordered lamb with a side… I ate inside when I was halfway through my meal I asked about my side that I ordered. They said they were getting it and I heard them on the phone so I figured I would give them a few moments but I went through the whole entire meal without my side, and when I went to the cash register to ask for my side to go. They said they were out of it, and I asked for my money back.. the man at the register told me oh, I haven’t charged you for your drink yet… I said I was not going to pay for my drink because you told me when I tried to pay for it at the cash, register not to worry about it.. they gave me my money back in the money they gave me back was not even the entire amount of what I paid for my sides… will not be back, and by the way, I know the lamb is a lame substitute. It is not real lamb and the rice was undercooked. I was crunching into every single bite almost… a few other things wrong with the meal but I won’t be back. You have to have better customer service and that especially when I passed you in the dining hall a few times after you tell me that my side is on the way. And you did not mention that you were out of it. You were just hoping that I walked out the door and did not get my side and did not request my money back…. The side was supposed to accompany my meal… and the Lamb substitute come on man…. I regret leaving a good tip before...
