On the plus side, Giove's does have some good food that is reasonably priced if you're in the mood for some greasy junk food. Now the bad parts, which is almost everything else... They take longer than any other local pizza place to deliver, even if you live 5 blocks away, and it often is luke warm and/or soggy by the time it gets to you. They also have messed up my order and brought the wrong thing well over 30% of the time. Because of these two things, we have stopped ordering from them. There is more that is bad about Giove's though. They close far earlier than they should for a pizza place on Friday and Saturday nights, and their online ordering system used to (it might still--watch out!!!) allow you to place an order when they are closed, then never tell you that they are closed and you'd sit around waiting for a delivery to come that never came. If you called to try to find out if they were open or closed, the answering machine used to not tell you they were closed and their hours either--I believe they at least fixed that part? The reviewer who claims they're the only place where you can order online is incorrect. You can order online from several local pizza places. The two anonymous reviewers who didn't write anything and just gave it an "Excellent" rating seem very suspicious to me---the owner and his/her spouse? Their are so many problems with this place, it's better to get pizza from Planet Pizza, Bertuccis, drive to Bridgeport and pick up Pizza Hut, drive to Milford to pick up Dominos, go to the place near Stop and Shop, ... heck, I'd even prefer Captain's, but I don't recommend it. I'd certainly order from Giove's over Stella's any day though. Stella's has gone downhill fast over the last few years, so don't read this bad review and go...
Read moreTime and time again, I ponder the ephemeral nature of reality, life, and our individual and collective experiences. When Trumbull Giove's closed, my heart broke a little. But, good thing Shelton Giove's is still open(!!!) The day I learned the Trumbull location was closed, I wistfully got a pizza from Shelton Giove's, then drove to Trumbull Center to eat it while sitting on the sidewalk, in what I might liken to some form of meditation. On the way there, a massive thunderstorm cracked the sky with sound and poured a surge of rain from the clouds—even the heavens wept for Trumbull Giove's closing.
Relish and revel—I've been coming here for over 15 years. After my two week excursion to Tucson, AZ, and a scrape with death wherein our carpool vehicle to the Grand Canyon quite literally caught on fire and exploded on the highway-side, the very first place I came to eat after coming home was none other than Giove's Pizza Kitchen. Today, after eating in and enjoying a Foxon Park white birch soda and a double crust cheese pizza, I had a nice chat with Emily, whose kindness and hospitality is frankly a paragon of everything that makes Giove's S-tier. I have nothing but love for the pizzeria I grew up on and will continue to come to so long as it's here. After all these years, I have just one question—who, if anyone, is Giove? (By the way, the scattered negative reviews do not capture the greatness within those walls.) Love and peace to the Giove's staff and the...
Read moreI must say, out of all of the restaurants in Shelton, Connecticut, this one is by far my favorite. And it's crazy, because I've never even eaten there before, or had their food! Lol! But I've just heard so many wonderful things about it from Shelton residents that by default, I love it. Additionally, every time I have called there, the employees have been nothing but friendly, kind, and helpful. Whether it be answering my call super speedy, telling me their hours, or tracking the location of Mike Ficano, Giove's employees never let me down! Now on the topic of Mike Ficano- he is the best employee, hands down. The most tall, handsome, muscular, sexy, delicious, chocolate, vanilla, snickerdoodle, throb-worthy man/Giove's employee there is or ever could be- I am grateful for his service the most. He has serviced me as a customer and individual in more ways than just one. He always goes above the call of duty in the name of Giove's and I could not be more grateful to him in particular. He deserves a raise in my honest opinion. I am also the mother of his child (I think, hopefully) and well, babies are expensive and we need to pay the bills. That aside, however, he is truly a gift from the Gods. Your pizza...
