This place was recommended to me and I was looking forward to a nice meal. I was alone so I sat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender, she was very friendly. I ordered the special of the day, the house side salad and water. One of my pet peeves is slimy lettuce, although unfortunately it's not an uncommon scenario at many restaurants and not enough to ruin my meal or my experience. However when combined with an over 40 minute wait for my entree it becomes more of a focus. When my meal finally arrived it was not as described However my recollection could be wrong. Not a big deal the salmon and rice I was expecting not expecting the tomato sauce, i thought she said salsa maybe I mis heard the description. Anyway when my meal finally arrived there was no conversation about the length of time it took to get to me simply 'here's your meal Although to be fair the bartender did check for me 2x. I told her not a big deal after she checked the second time. I know it's not her fault. The tomato sauce was overly spiced and lukewarm, the salmon was hammered and crunchy on the edges and the dirty rice was fine. Nobody checked on me during my meal or asked me how I liked it I think they knew that my experience was not going well. I asked for to go box and after some time the check was presented to me. I paid and left. I feel the appropriate thing would have been to have some kind of conversation from either the server or the manager apologizing for the length of time or to ask me how I enjoyed my food. And since that didn't occur I am posting my comments online. I spent over $50 for my meal plus small tip, no alcohol, and I feel like I just threw that money out the window of my car. I'm from out of town so no chance for do over but hopefully this was a one-off and somebody will read my comments and...
Read moreI went in on a busy night without a reservation. I was thankful to be able to sneak in and sit at the bar. The host was friendly and I was seated promptly.
The bartender was friendly when I spoke to them, but I wasn't really made to feel welcome. They were busy making drinks and talking to their friends at the other end of the bar, I had to flag them down for every step of the dining process: order a drink, order food, request silverware and pay my bill. I understand being busy, but it was a bit excessive.
I ordered a new fashioned cocktail to start. It was a tasty drink, but I was dissapointed to see makers mark bourbon used in it. For the price point, there are few better bourbon options that can be used.
For my entree I ordered the Porcini Ravioli with grilled chicken on top. Again, It was a delicious meal, and the presentation was top notch. I still had some minor complaints. Considering Porcini was in the name, I was expecting a more porcini forward meal, but instead it was a portobella forward meal. The description said a grilled portobella on top, but it seemed to be gratuitiously topped with sauteed sliced portobellas. As far as the pasta, it was about half ravioli and half tortellini. The chicken breast on top was slightly overcooked and dry. As I said, It was delicious, just misleading and not what I was expecting. The unsuspecting customer would be fooled easily.
I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was busy and front of house staff was bustling around with smiles. My first experience I was slightly dissapointed considering the price I paid. I will go back again and try other options on a slower night to compare. I won't make it a regular place to go alone, but it would be a good place to take...
Read moreWent for cocktails and dinner on a Friday night. Reservations seem like a must as it was quite busy. Ordered a Ruby red martini..it seemed like the juice had been in the fridge a little bit too long, just had that kind of flavor. My friend and I both ordered the tenderloin. It was to come with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. I'm not a fan of potatoes and told our server. She suggested sweet POTATO or French fried POTATO or spinach. I didn't want another similar vegetable to my asparagus so I asked for additional asparagus. I ordered my steak blue, my friend ordered medium temp. We also ordered the brussels as an app...don't do that. They came with a sauce that tasted like cheap ketchup and were topped with peanuts. Our steaks came and mine was medium at best, my friends was maybe a medium rare. She took mine since it was more to the temp she ordered. I sent mine back. $42 for a tenderloin, not eating a roast. She said it shouldn't take but a few minutes since, we'll, blue rare. I cook a fair amount of steak. My blue rare is 2 minutes per side on a HOT grill.....20 minutes later a girl slaps the salad plate on the table with the new steak on it without a word and heads back to wherever she came from. No sauce, no anything. I'd eaten part of my very woody asparagus and my friend was done eating. There were also no fingerling potatoes as the potatoe on her plate looked like a baked? Not sure what it was. The manager did stop by and ask if everything was okay. Kind of silly really since it clearly wasn't. I didn't even cut into the steak. We weren't charged and took the steak to my friend's parents. It was kind of a bust of an evening. Hoping this...
