I want to preface this review by saying I typically only leave positive reviews (as my profile shows). This morning, my husband and I stopped at Java Moon to get a bite to eat before hitting the road. When we ordered, I asked if the lunch menu was in service and was told that it was and that food might take ten minutes. We sat down and waited about 25-30 minutes while other patrons that placed orders following us received their food. We walked up to the counter after 25-30 mins to ask for a refund on our sandwiches as we had decided to leave without them. The lady at the register, Ricky, looked at me and said, “Look lady, there was a line…” My husband was livid about the way that she spoke to me and walked away to avoid making a scene. The man next to us at the counter had an issue and said he works in a kitchen and there was no excuse for his wait, either.
I worked in service for many years and the golden rule was always underpromise and overdeliver. If a customer has an issue, address it respectfully and move along. If an employee is unable to handle the feedback, perhaps they would serve the restaurant better in another capacity/not at the register. The whole experience was so shocking to me that I walked out shaking.
I sincerely hope, for the owners’ sake, that the employee mentioned received some much-needed training. It’s easy:
1.) Set realistic expectations regarding wait times. 2.) Let the customer know that all breakfast orders will be prioritized over lunch menu orders so that they can make an informed decision on how to proceed. 3.) If all else fails, apologize, issue a refund, and keeping it moving.
Note: I would not have mentioned the employee’s name had she not been rude, disrespectful, and offensive. I typically give people the benefit of the doubt and imagine they are just having a bad day. Perhaps this is just a terrific learning...

Read moreI always love going to Java Moon every time I visit the beautiful town of Sheridan. Today was probably the most disappointing experience I’ve ever had in my years of visiting Sheridan. After waiting on us and three other customers behind us, the server stood and talked with the other person behind the counter. I thought maybe he wasn’t the one who made the coffees and we continued to wait. Eventually he started our orders and called my name. When I sipped my coffee I was a little shocked that it wasn’t even close to hot. I usually don’t care about the temperature, but this was just above cold. By this time the young man has disappeared and so I handed it to another worker and told them it was cold. They took it to the steam Spicket and reheated it even though I had drank out of the cup. I stood and waited for her to return it to me and eventually discovered she had set it on the counter at the opposite end of where I was and she never said a word to me. I’m usually NOT picky but this was crazy unprofessional. I’m sad I can’t go...
