They've got an ill trained manager on duty 5/27/23. I took my granddaughter there last Thursday 5/25/23 and she ordered the 3 piece chicken strip meal, FROM A NICE BUT REPORTEDLY TIRED EMPLOYEE. He let us know that when we asked how his day was going. I ordered the double steak burger. I paid over $20 for our meals. We later discovered that she had only two chicken strips in her order. I attempted to call the store to let them know that this was the case but the phones just rang and rang. No one ever picked up. I returned there on Saturday to place an order and to let them know about the missing chicken strip the previous Thursday. The manager told me that there was nothing he could do about that since people lie about such things. I let him know that I would never lie about such a thing and that I had the receipt. He told me that company policy would not allow him to correct the mishap, even though I had the receipt. I said would someone say this for one chicken strip if it were not so, and he told me that they do all the time and he could not correct the issue. He suggested that I should have inconvenienced myself, burned my gas, and spent the extra physical time, effort and energy by driving all the way back to Riverpoint to let them know. I told him that I'd attempted to call them when I got home to let them know but the phones did not pick up. He affirmed the phone problem and reported that the phones are a huge issue that they need to address but he couldn't help me all the same. I mentioned that they didn't have a problem charging my card and taking my money but did not deliver on their end which I found shameful. And I thought to myself "they are the real thieves!" Easily stealing peoples hard earned money and then accusing a good regular customer of lying about something so trivial. For me it was much more the principal of the matter. I also had to remind him that he hadn't run my card for the current order i'd placed and gave him my CC so he could do so. If I were the person he'd painted me out to be, I would have left with my order and not let him know that I had not paid for it. He really would have had a deficit at the end of the night but he never once considered that. That is not who I am. I wondered if his attitude had anything to do with the color of my beautiful skin which is different from his? Whatever the case, it was the wrong way to treat a customer. Clearly Your managers need much better customer service training, training in discernment, anti-racism, and basic human service skills. This type of treatment of good faith, high paying, regular customers is appalling to say the least. On the other hand I can totally live WITHOUT SteaknShake for the rest of my natural...
Read moreFirst off I drove an hour and 30 minutes south to denver to retry this place, my first experience being thru the drive thru, for a dine in dinner with my family for mothers day. So continuing the review, my first impression of this particular place was offset. The front doors are broken and they have a sign directing you to the side of the building for entrance. Upon stepping into the restaurant the first thing I notice is the floor, my shoes were sticking to the floor and i know it was not my shoes. Furthermore, there was trash and debree all around. Most booth seats were cracked and id say 75% of the tables were dirty. They offer sanitation buckets (The type I'd normally use to clean diners and surfaces in my kitchen, seeing I work food service, myself) with one cloth. Im not sure what solution or company they go through for this chemical but the water was ice cold when I reached my hand in to grab the already stained and soiled towel to clean the only table that was the least dirtiest and could fit my family size. The booth we sat in (A classic corner round booth) was filled with trash and old food and a leg on the booth was broken. Cups were not stocked as well. Bathrooms, oh my goodness the bathrooms. While i understand the bathrooms are a place no employee wants to get stuck cleaning this was a disaster. Trash everywhere, sink absolutely disgusting that i didnt want to wash my hands. Toliets were so gross that i honestly considered going to a gas station over their restroom. The icing on the cake was the fact I observed no staff up front working with food wearing a hat, hair net, or simply having their hair up. Now that thats over with onto the food. While absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked I found the portion underwhelming and quite small. Staff when they decided to talk to us, only when we had started the conversation about needs, were very friendly and helpful. Overall an underwhelming experience and dead...
Read moreA sad shell of what Steak N Shake should be. This is the only store in the Denver metro area and what should be running like a flagship location is running like a forgotten business that has lost all hope. First of all, the menu has lost all of the selections it had 10 years ago, the parmesan fry seasoning... Gone... The Portobello Swiss burger... Gone... The patty melts... I didn't see them either. The restaurant used to have waiters but that is also gone, which made it a great place to have lunch, but the new in store kiosks for ordering miss what made Steak N Shake a great experience. The interior was beat down with tons of torn up booths and literal holes in the wall that concern me the location isn't up to code. The burger I got since my favorite burger (the portobello Swiss burger) is gone was the western BBQ burger, while it didn't fulfill my craving, it was a very good tasting burger. I can't speak for the milkshakes because I'm lactose intolerant so I just had a coke, the drink station was clean which very important to me so good job there.
What made Steak N Shake special was the old school feel of the establishment, and the ordering kiosks destroy the suspension of disbelief and changes the restaurant's vibe for the worst. We never had Steak N Shake in Colorado until about a decade ago, and Steak N Shake was always a special thing for me growing up, because I only ever had it when I saw family out east. I would love to see this place change, and return to greatness but I'm just not sure if they have the money to, or if they even care to because it all feels so apathetic now. I hope someone who cares makes the changes that needs to be made whether it be the owners or the corporate for this company, it would be a real shame to see this...
