I am not much of a night owl. Left to my own devices, I’d be snuggled up with a good book by 10. But, what about the times when I’m not left to my own devices? Occasionally, I find myself driving home after a late date, a movie or at the end of a road trip. Whatever the reason I am out late, may also be the reason I didn’t eat dinner at the usual time. Eating is important for me to avoid getting so hangry that the idea of waiting until I get home to whip up a sandwich just pisses me off. I want a tasty bite, I want it easy and I want it now. Fortunately, this McDonalds is nearby and open all the time. I get excited about wolfing down a burger and fries blocks before I make the turn into the drive through. There are always a few cars in line and at least one of the cars is full of stoned people who will take hours to make their order. The drive through line forks into two lines making the fun game of guess which line will move fastest. Don’t dilly dally about your choice or you will get honked at by the cars that are already behind you. Where do all these junk food junkies come from? When you pull up to the speaker, just disregard the first thing the voice says to you. Corporate headquarters must make them promote whatever they are talking about. Trying to find out what they mean is a rookie move that will slow the line down and get the guy behind you to get exasperated. The other mistake is to not know what you want. Come on, man! You’ve been to McDonalds many times before. This is not the time to wonder what happened to the Shamrock Shake and the McRib. It is important in this neighborhood to maintain situational awareness. Especially at night. When the speaker says, “Pay at the first window” don’t just zip forward. This is the point where the two lanes merge back into one. The other guy may be pushy or drunk and otherwise distracted. You should be on your toes, because he is not. Don’t rush. Things are going to slow down at this point. Inside the building the night shift is beavering away at providing meals for the late night crowds. You have time to get out your payment, clear off a spot to put your meal and be polite with the kids at the windows. Nine times out of ten, they will get your order right. It is worth taking a quick inventory to guard against that tenth time. Hopefully, you remember what you ordered and didn’t order so much that rooting through the bag takes a long time. Thank the kid. Politeness is a virtue and it doesn’t cost anything. I usually don’t want to wait until I get home. The fries are best when they are still hot. The parking lot has plenty of spaces. They give you plenty of napkins that you can spread out over your going out pants to catch the drips and crumbs that inevitably will get everywhere. Don’t worry about feeling guilty about eating so much fast food, that feeling is also inevitable. Just pack up the trash and drive off. Tomorrow you can get back...
Read moreI often have issues at this location but today was the worst. The drive thru associate did not understand a single menu item I was asking for and had to change the order 3 times. Fine, we all know the audio on those order boxes are fuzzy at best. He also kept pushing me through my order, asking "Is that it?" "Are you done ordering?" Before I had even said the size of the meal or the drink.
It gets worse. I get to the first window and the cashier takes my card without reading my order back and charges me for a different order (that I realized after looking at my receipt) I tell the cashier it's the wrong one and he calls the manager. The manager immediately starts yelling at the cashier, "WHAT DID YOU DO WRONG!" the cashier is young and clearly new to his position and confused. I cut in tell the manager it's not his fault just refund the charge and charge me for the correct order ( and the lady behind me for her order because at this point she is visibly irritated) The manager then tells me I should have just stuck with the 1st receipt because it was less than my order amount. I'm an honest person and wanted to pay for my meal in the right way. The manager fixes my receipt and says it could be up to 2 WEEKS to get my refund.
It gets EVEN worse. I get up to the pick up window and the cashier tries to hand me a meal that is not mine. I said no I ordered (such and such) this is the incorrect order, I've just talked to your manager. The cashier then proceeds to ask me for my receipt and that he does not believe me that I had ordered more food than the previous order. I asked him very bluntly, "Are you f** kidding? Here are my 4 receipts. One for the order I was charged for, the refund for the order, the correct receipt for my order, and the receipt for the lady behind me (who is now grateful for the free meal but yelling at the cashier on my behalf) Tell your manager to come to this window." He then says ma'am there's no need to curse I will get my manager. The manager takes 4 minutes to come back up and has to tell his crew to make two out of three meals again because only one was correct. They handed the bags to me and upon looking in the bags wouldn't you know it!! WRONG! At this point I'm fed up. I take the bags they have given me and I leave because 40 minutes and a drive thru is just too long.
And everyone keeps asking why no one is applying to the jobs out there? Poor management, poor training, poor customer service. Bad...
Read moreI got fast service. That drive-thru girl spoke great clear English you know I'm pretty sure she was pregnant she was still patient and not pushy, professional yet assertive and it was just a great experience which is often not had by me with McDonald's employees. The gentleman who Handed me my food was also incredibly polite, engaging and helpful when I asked for my side of Mac sauce he provided me with the price for it and it took me a second or two to get the change but before I was even able to find it he told me not to worry about it and just remember it for next time which I found very appropriate of him, I do believe we should be paying for all services receiving and not just expecting a free rides and this guy provided a smooth communication between satisfied customer and not losing his job. The food was fresh and shiny and warm and fastest I have ever had in any drive through, I pulled up to look in the window to see if a man placing what I can only imagine being my plastic ware and napkins not to window of people chatting while one individual is running around doing 16 jobs that is the scene I usually get to see at any fast food place. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and I didn't care for the chicken on it but it was not their fault it is my fault because I am a life-long vegetarian who just recently started eating meats and I am not a big fan of the whole meat eating situation. Also the menu options are numbered and pictures to articulate the difference in sandwich not a thought to be phenomenal. the matter of fact now is that as I write this I remember driving through the drive-thru between the two windows and thinking they really made this experience completely idiot proof there is absolutely no way anybody could have any trouble going through this because they have thought out every single thing it is such an easy experience blinking making it easier it would be to put the car on the same belt as they do when you go get your car washed pick you up when you begin ordering your food and push you through until you get your food and get past that little corner and then let you gonothing it's something that needed to be done but that is the only thing I can make it even more easier an idiot proof. Oh and one last thing even it though it was 1. in the morning as as a as X XXX xx xx xx xx xx their ice cream machine open which was superb and is very rare to find at...
