I just got back after eating Taziki's chargrilled lamb platter and it was so horribly overcooked and mediocre that I was confident that the reviews would be in line with my experience. Guess not! Guess I am going to be the fly in the ointment.
It should have been a red flag seeing only two tables occupied when most of the neighboring restaurants we crowded after the Anthem 5K.
Starting with the service - the girl who took the order had no idea what kind of lamb was available on the platter - shaved gyro lamb or kebabs? Since she didn't try to make the attempt to find out, I assumed they would be one or the other and left it at that. I also asked if they had any middle eastern sauce besides the Taziki dip and she didn't seem to know - just told me that the lamb comes with Skordalia sauce but didn't know what the flavor profile was - there was no description on the menu. In fact there is no description of any meat except "Grilled" on the menu.
The platter came with 3 grossly overcooked lamb medallions, just 1-2 slivers of red pepper and onions, a not-so-fresh salad with no dressing whatsoever, and dry Basmati rice. The Skordalia was a mayo or tahini based sauce with some paprika and middle eastern spices, but not powerful enough to overcome the flavor of the mayo/tahini.
I was with a business associate so just ate the lamb without making a fuss - but it took me so much time to get through the lamb that he asked if there was an issue with the food - since he had selected the restaurant.
Taziki is not even close to an authentic Mediterranean restaurant and food is sub par. In the past, we only had a few Mediterranean choices around the short pump area, (Mediterranean Bakery, 5-Star Gyro, etc) but with Mezeh and CAVA down the road, I see no reason to venture to...
Read moreMany, many moons ago, I worked in a Greek restaurant, and it was there that I fell in love with chicken kabobs. When I came across Taziki’s Menu online and saw these fabulous Feast meals available there all day long, I was hoping to recapture some of those memorable flavors.
We decided to try this place out, first on a rainy afternoon, then on a rainy Monday night. Once we entered the well-cooled dining room, we were greeted warmly and quickly - both times that we’ve been.
And both times, we have ordered the same plate - grilled chicken kabobs over a heaping bed of basmati rice, with a Caesar salad topped with shaved parmesan. Each time, our entrees were accompanied by fresh, made in house tzatziki sauce.
Tzatziki sauce is a cool, refreshing yogurt sauce, whipped together with cucumber, olive oil, lemon and herbs. While the chicken kabobs were absolutely delicious with their encrusted seasonings, setting them off with the cooling effect of the tzatziki sauce was most satisfying.
It’s hard not to mention how beautifully the floral basmati rice paired with the fragrant herbs and spices on the chicken. These Caesar salads weren’t for amateurs either - they were thoughtfully seasoned with just the right amount of garlic, and garnished with crunchy croutons.
All in all, this entire Feast was a flavor explosion! The chicken was juicy, and tender, and everything was extraordinarily fresh. This was truly a well-balanced meal, and I’ll say it again, it was delicious! We’ll be back for more - I can’t wait to try the...
Read moreJESSICA, JESSICA… JESSICA! What a RUDE person you are!! Very very bad customer service!!! As a door dasher I have never had such a disappointing experience as this. I had a task to pick up an order from this restaurant, so I come in and wait behind the person currently placing and order at the register, as I do at every place I pick up orders from. As I was waiting in line a couple comes in and waits on the other side of me. After Jessica finishes the current order she looks over me to help the couple!!!! So I kindly say to the couple “pardon me, but I Was next in line”, Jessica then says to me,”you can wait over there, I am GOING to help them” and she said it with such rudeness as if she was punishing me for telling the couple that I was waiting to have service !!! Being a dasher I am on a time constraint and I have never experienced an employee not immediately going and checking on status of the door dash order. JESSICA should have went and inquired about the status of the DoorDash order, then gave me an update as to where to pick it up and when it was going to be done …. and THEN helped the couple that came in the line AFTER I was clearly waiting before them instead of brushing me off and helping them first. VERY BAD customer service! And a rude girl JESSICA is, It seems more training needs to be done...
