I was a disappointed in this Indian restaurant, which my husband and I visited by chance for an early dinner. The first impression at the entrance was not good...no specials promoted, no menu on display, no information about the food. No one welcomed us in, we were just told where to sit, and then had to wait for several minutes to even get a menu. Normally, at a restaurant, a good server will try to set the customer at ease, and give them information about the food. This was not the case. We had to struggle through the menu, trying to understand unfamiliar dishes. All the tables and booths in the small restaurant were fully set with plates, goblets, and cloth napkins. Since there was only one other customer when we arrived, I wondered how long the setups had been gathering dust. The toilet in the ladies’ restroom was not flushing properly. In my opinion, if there are maintenance problems in the restroom, there are probably issues in the kitchen as well. The menu is badly designed. If a dish is labeled as a “main course”, that means it should be substantial enough to stand on its own, without having to order additional sides (at additional cost). If it’s a nice restaurant where they use goblets and cloth napkins, I also expect complimentary fresh bread or chips to be brought to the table at the same time as the drinks. Even though there was interesting Indian music playing, I could hear employees talking angrily and cursing. At one point, the owner called a server to a table, to berate and humiliate him in front of a diner. The owner lost all interest in my husband and me the moment we ordered water. Instead, he spent his time ingratiating himself with two young couples on a double date, selling them wine. Another bad sign, was when the server came to our table with a plate in each hand, with a large thumb over each. He was trying to carry spoons in his spare fingers at the same time. The dish we ordered, called “Saag”, did not match its description, which mentioned spinach and cheese, with potatoes or mushrooms. When I asked about the potatoes or mushrooms, the waiter/owner, immediately said “The cheese is better.”, and turned around and left, without asking what I wanted! I ended up with a small bowl of seasoned spinach with a few blobs of cheese in it, for $11. I ordered white rice and garlic bread, at an additional cost, to fill out the meal. The food was tasty in a homemade sort of way, but it was not fine dining. We were ignored throughout the meal, and after we finished, they took the plates away. We had an 80-mile drive ahead of us, and were ready to leave. We waited for ten or fifteen minutes for the bill, and finally walked to the entrance, where the manager was on the phone talking in a loud voice to someone who was shopping for him. He continued to ignore us, instead of putting his call on hold. When he finished his call, he told my husband the cost of the meal without showing an itemized bill. I would not recommend this restaurant. They are inconsistent, unorganized, and...

Living in Shreveport this has been one of our top 3 favorite restaurants to visit. We visited often as a couple and frequently with large groups of coworkers and friends. It is a very relaxed environment and not the type of place you go to when in a hurry, but a great place to go to relax and have a good time socializing.
The food for dinner is always consistently hot, fresh, and delicious. The Chicken Tikka Masala is our favorite and the free soy patties brought out as an appetizer are delicious. They mix up all different kinds of drinks, you tell him a color or a flavor you want and they'll go to town making you something special. The non-alcoholic Mango Lassi's are also surprisingly addictive.
What really puts this place above the rest however is the owner, Guru. Who frequently shows up to open the door and to greet us when we walk in with a smile and a hug. He really treats you like family and jokes around with you like you're a part of his. At the same time he's always incredibly polite and respectful and you can really tell he cares for his customers. We don't even need menus anymore since he has memorized our order. I've really never been to a place quite like it.
We are now moving out of town and not sure what we will miss more, the great food or Guru. Either way we will have lots of great memories and I highly recommend stopping by if...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place, and I had high hopes after reading the great reviews. The food was ok, the meats (lamb and chicken) were dry and overcooked. The food wasn't really seasoned, and kind of bland. The chicken tikka masala, which is normally my favorite, just tasted like spaghetti sauce with dry chicken. The desserts were bland. The rice pudding tasted like cold leftover rice in milk.
Service was non-existent. The person who greeted us was friendly, but after being seated, they ignored us. They didn't even ask us if we wanted drinks, just the water that was on the table already. We waited for napkins and water refills for a while and gave up. They brought 1 piece of naan to the table(cut into 4 little pieces) and we couldn't get their attention for more of that either.
I liked the atmosphere, though it was a bit dark. We much prefer India's Restaurant in Shreveport and New India Restaurant in Bossier. We only came to this one because the others were closed on Sundays, but we won't be returning.
I was wavering between 2 and 3 stars... 2 stars seems so harsh, but I can't see why it was rated so highly. I feel like we wasted money based on the great reviews that don't seem accurate. So 2 stars because I can't pick 2.5 stars and 3 stars would be too generous.
Let it be noted that we ate the lunch buffet, other reviews are saying they have better menu items than the ones...
