I had high expectations of this restaurant and was disappointed. Service was mideocre, but the server was pleasant. When we arrive no one was at the counter. We waited a few minutes then sat ourselves after gettingthe go ahead from a person in back. While waiting for service more people arrived and stood at the counter. They're orders were taken before mine and the person before me. It took about 20 minutes to get the daily special served. 20 minutes to get take out order. I ordered the pasta which I figured would be slightly spicy, because Cajun is in the name, but it was volcano spicy. Since I couldn't eat it,, I decided to order a sandwich from the menu but was told that I would have to go to the husband's restaurant. This meant I would have to leave my companion and my drink to go to another building. A runner to pickup the food would have been great! I was told that everything on the menu was spicy and the gumbo had a little kick to it. Knowing better, I settled for gumbo. It was salty, spicy and the rue was as thick as white gravy on biscuits. The only thing that was edible for me was the toasted French bread and sweet tea. I won't be back to give them a second chance because all their dishes are spicy. Being that spicy is the only option I feel that this is not a good place for seasoned and tasty food. And if you are "Creole" and looking for Creole taste, don't do what I did and base your expectations on "Creole" meals that your used to eating. The decor is beautiful. The restaurant is clean. The staff were slow but polite. Plenty...
Read moreAUTHENTIC Cajun/Creole Food and music. The owners, from South Louisiana, are a delightful couple, who clearly enjoy serving folks. Our first trip was on a Wednesday evening and the special of the day was a delectable Pasta Orleans. The rigatoni pasta is mixed with sausage and chicken in a flavorful, perfectly seasoned Creole cream sauce. This brought back the treasured flavors I grew up with in New Orleans. We also had the Shrimp Etoufee, a rich creamy cajun stew with plump grilled shrimp a plenty. Although it may be a bit heavy on the cayenne for Shreveport palates, the filling dish served over rice will delight those who enjoy spicy food. There are daily specials on the menu along with Jambalaya, Etoufee, Pasta Orleans, Mardi Gras Nachos, Twice Baked Cajun Potato, Seafood Gumbo, Red Beans & Rice, etc. Dessert offerings are: Bread Pudding with warm Vanilla Rum Sauce, fresh-made Beignets [3], and cheesecake. For Breakfast and Lunch or pastries, a stroll to the corner brings you to Ashley's Tiers of Love Bakery, also owned...
Read moreStory: went in around 2 because I hadn’t had anything to eat. My MIL and I were the only ones there. Zydeco playing-I feel at home! Lady behind the counter comes to greet us. I love to ask where the owners are from when they have a Cajun name and claim the style of food. She was from New Orleans and the owners were from Lafayette and Baton Rouge. She takes our order and then goes to the back with it. Owner comes out to greet and chat. (Always a win when the owner comes out) At some point she hears me updating someone about our day on the phone. We finish up and she returns to sincerely ask who is in the hospital. Proceeds to ask if she can pray for us. Joins hands and prays so powerfully that I actually cried!! We were absolutely meant to be there and have another reminder of how great our God and His people truly are! The cuisine was spot on and atmosphere...
