Won't be going back there again... Shame since the Hoboken location was a favorite 10 years ago. The Shack with Shakes is better quality, value, and atmosphere anyway. Sad that the franchise model massacred another formerly great brand on the altar of post-capitalism for some cheap quarterly profits...RIP
Food is good as always but two burgers, one fry, a soda, and shake was $46. Staff, decor, food, and experience is not on par for the same cost meal at a proper restaurant. Ironic since the printed reviews boast its former legacy as "best value in Washington" and "cheap eats". The only thing cheap is the decor since the red and white tiles and vinyl seats offer the luxury of a gas station diner with hot, white fluorescent lights providing the blinding comfort of a root canal.
My wife ordered an Oreo & Creme shake which is literally just a vanilla shake for an upcharge, allegedly made with Oreo creme and zero Oreo. I asked if the staff if he could add some Oreo and he said a spoonful of crumbs would cost $3... This was after tipping, although he didn't even bring the order to our table in the empty restaurant that claims to offer 'table service'.
The Coca-Cola magic machine had 3/4 of the options greyed out because they don't clean their machines or maintain it by switching syrup packs or adjusting carbon dioxide levels that turned the few available options into an absolute mess. All I wanted was a root beer, but had to drink lemonade with a burger and fries 🤢 Pointed this out to the rude worker who further refused to take responsibility for his job or fix this issue.
Burgers drip in grease and you do get enough fries to asphyxiate a Burmese python, but I'd rather eat a steak in Red Bank...
Read moreI’ve been here multiple times, and this is my second issue.
First time: Missing condiments on my burger. I called customer service, filed a report, then brought in my receipt to get it remade. Asked if I could keep the receipt for bookkeeping (paid with business card). The older lady acted like I was trying to scam them for free food and told the manager I wanted to keep it to get more free stuff. I explained I need receipts for accounting, but she seemed confused and jumped to conclusions. I ended up taking a photo and letting them keep the original.
Second time: Again, missing condiments and bacon on the burger was fatty and undercooked. Called the store—no answer. Went in the next day, same lady said, “You had an issue last time.” When I asked if they’re allowed to make mistakes, she said, “We don’t make mistakes.” The general manager said “if you have another issue we won’t remake or refund you” as if they are perfect. Checked reviews and I’m not the only one with missing condiments or dry burgers. The fries were extremely salty—whoever seasoned them that night either seemed angry or was trying to give someone high blood pressure; there was so much Cajun seasoning left at the bottom of my bag that it could have filled an entire tube of seasoning to keep...
Read moreMy husband is an avid Five Guys fan so my family of five went in, we were the only ones and got served quickly. The employees were very kind but finding a clean table was a bit difficult so I cleaned ours off and we waited only a few minutes, which was great. The burgers and grilled cheeses were spot on but the biggest disappointment were the fries. It was like they sat in the bag for a 20 minute ride home instead of a 3 second walk to our table, they were soft and soggy. But my kids thoroughly enjoyed the peanuts and the fact that they could get extra pickles on...
