J & B's Grill — Restaurant in Shrewsbury

My family of four came in for a late lunch on our way home based on good reviews. Unfortunately, I was not inpressed. My first mistake was thinking a picture of lemonade was a margarita. Turns out this place is BYOB.

The restaurant is in a small converted town home right on main street with a couple of small dining rooms.

Service was fine. No complaints there.

The food was pretty bad though. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. French fries were terrible. Zero flavor. Like, not even salt. Borderline overcooked but still somehow really soggy. I think of the four of us, we maybe ate 10 fries. The chicken salad sandwich was meh. I stomached half of it. Lots of mayo and maybe...nutmeg? Beyond that the chicken was dry and had no discernable flavor profile. Coleslaw was overly sweet and drowning in mayo.

Hubby picked apart his BLT. He said there was nothing special about it.

My kids like their hot dogs. 🤷‍♀️

Cozy space in a walkable antique/curio area at the crossroads in Shrewsbury. Offering standard breakfast selections done very well (and available all day) with a large selection of sandwiches, entrees and sides which await another visit. Our combo breakfast platter of giant fluffy pancakes (or French toast) bacon and sausage and eggs perfectly cooked to order with savory fried potatoes was delicious and filling. My wandering eyes spied what appeared to be amazing eggs Benedict and a generous plate of biscuits and sausage gravy, both of which will be on the short list for our next visit. Which will be soon! My husband and I stumbled on this place while looking for a new breakfast spot. The food was delicious! I also really liked their breakfast specials, it was hard to choose. It was very busy when we were there. The waitress did a fantastic job tending to our table and the tables around us. The hostess was kind and friendly. She assisted the waitress when possible. Wait time for drinks, food, etc, was surprisingly short considering how busy it was. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. My only negative comment about the atmosphere is the amount of space.
