UPDATE: We spoke to Chris, the bar manager, who informed us a new cook had been responsible for our meal that night. He offered us vouchers for the meal totaling $50. My wife, mother and I returned on Friday, 17 November 2023 to see how things would go. Before we ordered our food, we witnessed two separate customer complaints about excessively crunchy onion rings and chicken wings.
For some reason, the Pepsi we ordered didn't taste quite right. There was plenty of fizz but the flavor seemed off. We ended up ordering water and blue moon beer afterwards. Upon the steaks arriving, we were greeted by the bar manager whom was present when we cut into our steaks. My steak was right where it needed to be. My mom cut into her steak and the bar manager immediately noticed it was VERY rare. He turned white, grabbed that steak, and literally ran back to the kitchen.
A lady whom I assume was the general manager / owner then came over and apologized for what happened. The next steak brought out was on the border between medium rare / medium. It was acceptable.
When the bill came, I noticed our meals had been comped and we only owed $2.23 for the taxes. Once again, management acknowledged the mistake and tried to make it right.
It seems like Applebee's in Sierra Vista may be going through temporary transition pains caused by personnel turnover. If you visit this restaurant, be prepared to be patient as much of the kitchen staff appears to be new or relatively green. Will probably visit again in a couple months to see if things have changed.
Normally this restaurant is very good, but for some reason they were subpar when my family visited on 13 NOV 2023. The food was cold on arrival. We informed the staff of the issue, whom promptly corrected it and had it remade. On remake, the temperature was better, but the steaks were served between blue / rare. We ordered them medium.
Server was excellent and was tipped. The manager tried to make it right and compensated us for the meals that were messed up. However, the meal overall wasn't satisfying.
Will probably visit again after some time has passed to see if any...
Read moreWent with my mother for lunch, and it was relatively dead. The hostess opened the door for us and was very sweet. However when it came to ordering and getting the right food it was a disaster. I ordered boneless buffalo hot wings, and the steak salad. But when the waitress took my moms order she asked her if she wanted the one with chicken. And I thought she was just listening to our conversation and overheard what my mother wanted. So my mom said yes but she wanted Italian and ranch and a side of buffalo sauce instead of the regular dressing and I said to my mother it was the honey mustard one, cause I was going to get it but opted for the steak salad instead. The waitress then said no it's not it's the pick de gallo ranch dressing. Which I thought was weird but we were tired from shopping and hungry. Soon after we got our salads mine was delicious but my mother's was basically my salad with grilled chicken. Which is not what she wanted, she wanted the fried chicken strip salad. Then I realized we weren't going to get our buffalo wings. So my mother asked the waitress and the waitress said no you ordered a side of buffalo sauce not buffalo wings. And I had to clarify that I had ordered the buffalo wings as well as my salad and my mom ordered the side of buffalo sauce so she could dunk her chicken strips in (which was useless cause the strips were grilled and it wasn't even the right salad). So I had to order my wings to go. The food was delicious however the server was not listening and did not want to hear our orders for whatever reason. Just a...
Read moreLet's be honest—it's an Applebee's in Sierra Vista, Arizona. And yet, here I am, giving it five stars with a straight face.
Is it the pinnacle of gastronomic achievement? Not quite. But when you're in Sierra Vista and the dining options thin out faster than the desert air, this place shines like a neon beacon of hope.
The menu is exactly what you'd expect—the same reliable Applebee's offerings you'd find in Minneapolis or Poughkeepsie. There's something oddly comforting about that consistency. The mozzarella sticks taste like mozzarella sticks. The burgers are, indeed, burgers. Revolutionary? No. Edible? Absolutely.
The staff deserves special mention for maintaining their enthusiasm despite explaining the same half-price appetizer deal for the thousandth time. Their smiles remain intact even when someone inevitably complains that their Bourbon Street Steak isn't "like the one in Texas."
The décor is a time capsule of suburban chain restaurant aesthetics, complete with those framed prints that nobody has ever looked at for more than three seconds.
But here's the thing—when you're road-weary, hungry, and in Sierra Vista, this place delivers exactly what it promises. No more, no less. And sometimes, that deserves five stars on principle alone.
In a town where tumbleweeds outnumber entertainment options, the Sierra Vista Applebee's stands proud as... well, as an Applebee's. And sometimes, that's exactly...
