This was our first visit and we are quite satisfied.
This long-time local deli features a few booths to sit at or you can take it to go. Think cozy, quaint, old-school, hole-in-the-wall, neighborhood deli vibes.
The staff were experienced, friendly, and helpful.
We tried the Gyro and the Italian Grinder. I asked for no peppers and no mustard, and this was not an issue.
The gyro had premium thick flavorful meat (I assume lamb but didn't ask) with fresh toppings. The grinder was stacked with quality deli meat and bold cheese, the dressing was rich and zesty; in a good way.
We got a side of potato salad which was quite possibly the best potato salad I've had in Sierra Vista. My husband also enjoyed it but commented he would have liked a little more of a vinegar taste, I disagree but I also don't care for things that are too vinegary. The ingredients were tangibly fresh and had a wonderful depth of flavor.
It was a nice touch that they included some potato chips on the side of the grinder.
They have different size options for the subs and they have other meals options as well. They do have beverages but we didn't try any on this visit. Be sure to bring cash.
The food was messy and delicious and we will most...
Read moreI know it's a beloved treasure of SV but I must say, paying $12 for what looks and tastes like a homemade sandwich is sadly disappointing. We had Reubens with what tasted like pastrami rather than corn beef, cabbage pieces instead of sauerkraut. Sandwich was cut in threes, but it was one and a half sandwiches with toasted white bread. It was decent but what can you expect from a mom and pop shop that's been open for so long. I'm sure I'll get evicted from town for this bit it's too much not to complain. I passed it forever without thinking of trying it and the day came to give it a shot. First and last time for everything. Schlotzsky's has fantastic and Big sandwiches for the same price and chips don't come in a zip...
Read moreI come from the east where there are delicatessens on every corner. I stopped in to get a cheese steak. This place is funky and not in a cool way. They have used costume jewelry on tables and soy sauce for sale in old used water bottles it appears. There were only two usable tables and it looks like the interior construction was done from leftover dumpster materials. There is about 15' of roofing drip edge along the booths and part of a shower curtain over the counter. My cheese steak? Greasy, very little meat that was dry and a couple slices of American cheese. Not a cheese steak by any standard. Oh, and it was accompanied by a zip lock sandwich bag with a handful of...
