I often hear 'you can't find good sushi in the middle of the desert,' and I am constantly overjoyed to prove everyone wrong after convincing them to try Tanuki's Sushi! Ms. Maggie, Mr. Jun, Charles, and Daniel are the most gracious of hosts and constantly go the extra mile to ensure their guests have a world class experience at this hidden gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere is great, the service is world class, and the food is beyond words! Ms. Maggie and Mr. Jun ensure the highest quality of their food and could not do a better job delivering a delightful experience time after time. It is incredibly rare to find a restaurant where you can receive the same quality on such a consistent basis, especially at this value. I implore each person reading this to not only go eat, but take your time and get to know your server and Ms. Maggie and you will see why this place is so special. Unfortunately, I could ONLY give 5 stars and there is nothing I can say in this review that will do it justice, but I have eaten here 75+ times, never get sick of it, never have a bad meal, and always look forward to returning each week. I say with certainty this is the best restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of dining at and could not recommend it...
Read moreFood: The sushie rolls were sticking to each other and weren’t easy to grab with the chopstick. Sushie rolls fell apart very easily when grabbed with chopsticks or hand. Ordered Octopus Taki for kids. The menu not the server mentioned that they put wasabi in it when they serve wasabi on the side. I greatly enjoy Japanese sushie but me and my kids didn’t enjoy the experience. Service: The server needed a day off. We felt being rushed to take our orders as it was our first time there. Another server came and took our empty plates that we need to put our sushie in and our chopsticks and said he was going to bring new ones but never did. I had to go ask for chopsticks and we had to put our sushie in the tiny small soy sauce bowl or pass the plate around with the sushie rolls cause nobody brought our individual plates. My kids still wanted to eat more sushie but the server gave us our bill when we didn’t asked for it nor did she check if we wanted to order more sushie before handing the bill. We left totally unsatisfied with the experience. Atmosphere: The restroom was extremely dirty with a toilet full of poop and toilet paper. There were people sitting right outside the male restroom. I don’t...
Read moreWe stopped in to order take out for a date night. Upon entering, we were quickly told that they weren't allowing anyone to get sushi togo, which was the main basis of this restaurant's appeal. So we settled for some tempora & chicken teriyaki, sat by the door, and waited. They did not call our name when the order was up, just said "HEY" once and when we didn't answer because we were assuming they would call our name, the owner I'm assuming came over to give us our food and was incredibly rude saying that they, "called [our] name 10 times but [we] weren't paying attention." Mind you, this is a small space, packed with people, including frantic staff, and - again - we were listening for our name instead of a random should of "HEY" that could have been directed toward anyone.
The food was subpar; the tempora had so much batter that it wasn't fried completely and the chicken was extremely dry. Paired with the lack of customer service and rudeness of the owner, I am being generous giving this establishment a 2/5 stars.
We have just moved to this city and although we have been recommended by countless coworkers to try the sushi, we will not be giving our business to...
