Unique cozy eclectic German restaurant, very clean. Nicely decorated with culturally appropriate decor. The waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The food was delicious. We started with an Ice coffee which is served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it and whipped cream on top, plus a cookie on the side. The coffee was a light roast, not bitter, unsweetened but as the ice cream melts it sweetens it and it is very good. As well as an Apple Schorle to drink, which is a sparkling apple juice that is not too sweet but delicious. We had a Bavarian hot pretzel with cheese which was soft, warm, and comforting. It was served with a side of ranch that tasted freshly made and surprisingly paired well with the cheese coated pretzel. For entrees we had the Currywurst bratwurst which is not spicy but is tender and has a flavorful sauce over it. This came with tangy cole slaw and fresh warm fries. We also had the Jagerschnitzel which is a seasoned breaded thin cut pork that is crisp and savory paired with a mushroom sauce. We tried the potato salad and potato pancakes for our sides. The potato salad was chunky, tangy and full of flavo;, the thick sour cream and chives were a nice topping for it. The potato pancakes were thin & crispy. Everything was yummy and the atmosphere was calm and welcoming. We went about 45 min before closing time, there were 3 or 4 other tables occupied and while it's not a huge space we never felt crowded.

Excellent European Food We were in Sierra Vista one day to visit the military fort and wanted something unique for lunch so we stopped by The German Cafe. It's on the end of a strip and is very cozy inside. We were there just after noon and there were maybe 4 other tables with diners so service was excellent. We both had iced teas that were refreshing on that hot day. My wife ordered the Schnitzel Lunch Sandwich with came with fries and cole slaw. I ordered a bowl of the Hungarian Goulash Soup that came with a slice of garlicky grilled bread. The pork on the Schnitzel Sandwich was perfectly cooked - moist and fried just right. The cole slaw is oil vinegar dressed with bacon and onion. We loved it. My Goulash was perfect with nice amounts of pork, potato and other vegetables. An excellent flavor with plenty of paprika, which may have contributed to just a little spice kick. The grilled garlic bread was a nice addition. The other diners clearly had been there before as they all saved room for cake which we found out is one of their most popular items, but we had to pass on it this time. For a change from southwest menus, try The German Cafe to escape to Europe for awhile.

This restaurant is the real deal. Everything is prepared fresh and the food is great. A true German experience sans the beer ;) Food : Highly recommend the potato pancakes, cucumber salad & the hot potato salad. I tired the meatball and gravy.... it was more a meat patty in gravy and tasted great. Out table tried the Schnitzel, Bavarian sausages and sandwiches. Everything tasted yummy. The mustard, horseradish dip and apple sauce are all wonderful add ons. Service : Very friendly staff. Looked like they were under staffed and things were a bit slow. Our waitress did tell us upfront that food will arrive slow, which was appreciated. Very attentive inspite of the restaurant being full with folks waiting. Ambience : A quaint lil place with a small private dining area as well. I was thankful for making a reservation. The restaurant gets busy for lunch and dinner, so call ahead or be ready to wait. They don't serve beer or wine yet. Plenty of parking available. Pricing : Moderate. Will I return? : Heck yeah! There's so much more on their menu to try.

My friends and I visited The German Cafe on Saturday, October 19, 2019. I ordered the Jagerschnitzel which is a pork tender with a brown mushroom gravy. It was moist and quite tasty and served with the perfect breading on the outside to compliment it further. My sides included the Spatzle pasta and the Cucumber salad. Both were incredibly amazing. Even my left overs the following day were incredibly delicious. The German Chocolate cake was made to perfection as well. This was my first experience with German cuisine and this restaurant is a must return on my bucket list when I'm in the Sierra Vista area. In regards to the preparation time, everything is made fresh and on the spot so be patient with the wait time as a home cooked meal is not "fast food." With this understanding, you'll appreciate the special atmosphere with no visible cell phones present. The dining customers were sharing stories, smiling, walking babies around the tables and one adorable couple was holding hands over the table while enjoying this quality time together. It was also so cool and authentic to listen to the young waitresses speak in German to the German speaking customers. I know the waitresses were working hard, so please don't worry and stress when things get busy. Excellent food is worth the wait! Customers don't mind waiting for an authentic meal that is prepared on the spot. Im sure that's why you have many return customers. One suggestion...It is important not to judge a customer before given the opportunity to tip. Apparently, two of my other friends paying before me did not tip (honestly, I'm not sure as I wasn't monitoring their transactions). However, my other friend and I combined our meals on one ticket. I paid the bill of $30 plus and she was paying the tip and left $12 and some change. I understand it was crowded and overwhelming, but the one waitress appeared angry and made comments before we had a chance to provide that $12 and change tip. We were being kind and understanding with the crowded setting so please do the same...

This was truly a surprise and a treat for ones palate. I was not expecting a flavor that took me back to Karlsruhe Germany. The food is truly authentic and delicious, the service is outstanding and for a moment you are able to picture yourself in a small cafe back in Germany. I strongly recommend the German Cafe to anyone that misses the flavors of Germany or anyone that wants to experience it for the first time, you will not be disappointed. On a separate note, I took the time to read some of the reviews and I am at a total loss and wonder about the authenticity of the negative reviews. Based on my current experience even a picky eater would have a hard time finding fault with the flavors or service at this Cafe. I have tried others in town and I do not mean to take anything from them, there were some good aspects of their establishment BUT the outstanding flavor of my meal coupled with the excellent friendly service and atmosphere was a pleasurable memory of being back in Germany and is worthy of a review in excess of 5 stars. So please if your review is not authentic lets not hurt the small business. If your negative review is sincere and accurate I am sorry that you did not get to have the experience I had and that I am looking forward to again. Since my return to Sierra Vista I have found very few restaurants of international cuisine that are worthy of a review. The German Cafe has earned a 5+ Star rating. Don't just take my word for it please give them a try. I assure you that you will not be...

The food was delicious. The ambience is cozy accompanied with German antiques coo coo clock lederhosen claded little figurines and other cute German artifacts. The waitress was outstanding as a server and as a human being. It was a 50 degree chilly day outside and I forgot, I put my purse on the seat of other chair. I put in my coat gloves and scarf on and my purse was not on my chair. Sometimes, I don't always bring it with me when I'm with my husband.Other times my husband grabs it for me due to it being sooo heavy. I got up, left, and forgot I put it under the other seat. As I drove down the road, a mile, I said to my husband, "where's my purse?" Sometimes he picks it up for me. I have everything and the kitchen sink in there. I was mortified it was left behind. I raced back to the restaurant in silence, too upset and embarrassed for words. The waitress when she saw me, immediately, took my purse out of safe keeping, from under the counter. Everything was there, as it always had been, untouched. I am so impressed that nothing was stolen. My waitress really took care of me. She was sweet, personable, efficient, organized as she maneuvered and waited the entire room, and most importantly integriteous, which is a quality that is lacking in so many people. She was impressive!!! I would highly reccomend this wonderful, charming restaurant, and fabulous waitress to everyone. What a wonderful experience! It is a must visit restaurant when traveling to Sierra Vista! Thanks to our dear server! You...
