Mexican Japanese Fusion you say? I was SUPER SKEPTICAL I gotta admit yāall; My Japanese mama was like YEESH!!!! When we first pulled into the parking lot I wanted to turn back around⦠but Iām so glad we stayed! I quickly saw that these guys def make it work! They donāt try to actually FUZE the Mexican with the Japanese - they are a Mexican place that also happens to serve Sushi rolls and a couple of Asian inspired bites! So we met one of our FAVE OG couples here in Sierra Vista/Fort Huachuca in AZ for dinner. Weāve known this couple since we were both young Padawan parents and now we are empty nesters and they are in the home stretch!! Man! Itās so WILD seeing our kids grown up!! ššš But ENDYWAYZ!!! This little place is part of a HUGE re-vamp of the local area that my GORGIE friend Sarah P has been a LARGE part of making happen!! SV/Ft Huachuca has seen a massive overhaul of their downtown centro. With removal of tired and abandoned spaces and the revitalization and beautification of the area. This very building was once an old - OLD STYLE Chinese Restaurant, now has been renovated to incorporate not only the now Updated Chinese (and now Thai too) place, but also a gift shop - and THIS little Gem!! The TM menu is super colorful and absolutely scrumptious for the eyes and appetite!! They have EVERYTHING!! From Guac, to Nacho fries; shrimp Tacos to Street Tacos (and you wouldnāt BELIEVE the fillings! But more on that later!). They have Fried rice, steak n shrimp and chicken (cooked local style of course!); and burritos and Sonoran hot dogs (a local specialty!) and then they have the Japanese sushi rolls. Now the thing about their sushi rolls that you will need to know is this: ALL of their rolls are of the cooked variety. So do not show up thinking you will be able to partake of sashimi or tuna rolls or anything raw because thatās not their gig. They do things like the Jalisco Roll - (baked) w cucumber , algae cream cheese and avocado inside and melty cheese n chipotle sauce outside; Cali rolls, spicy shrimp rolls (chopped cooked creamy shrimp inside), tempura rolls, chicken rolls etc. still super tasty!! 𤤠Oh! And since they have a bar? You KNOW they come correct w the ADULT BEVERAGES!!! So we started w their Chicarrones de Ribeye (YESSSSS!!!) and the Spicy shrimp roll. GUYS!!!! This Guac is BEYOND BE-OND!!! I make my own Guac and I Go Next Level w the garlic - and these guys did NOT disappoint!! CREAMY, CHUNKY, GARLICY, LIMEY-EY YUMMMMMMMY!! And the MEATY CHUNKS OF RIBEYE chiccarrones push it all OVER the top!!! I could BATHE in this n then lather it on as after bath lotion!!! Yes baby!!! šš Next for our entries! Hubs had the Ribeye Street Tacos- super tender beefy strips of Ribeye inside flour (your choice) tortillas beautifully presented with five different salsa, picos, onions n such. They really are Profesh at the presentation! These little folded treasures were perfectly seasoned, Perfectly tender and with the salsas n condiments allowed for the perfect blend of taste combos. My friend Sarah had the Quesabirria Tacos with an amazing consume - you get three Gorgeous meat packed tacos and a super rich dunking sauce. My girl could NOT finish all three!! They were tender and RICH meaty tasting!! And that consume Had to be an All Night simmer type yummage!! Rich and FULL of beefy flavor!! Her hubs Jake had the New York Steak Tacos which were EXTRA beefy and Next level tender I HAD to take a bite of that beef!! And the flavor was Outstanding!! Just the right spice mix! What IS that you use? Simple and tongue tingly! I was feeling adventurous n had two streets tacos, one with with Beef tongue and the other with Beef Marrow guts (Tripas). Now I was actually expecting typical soft stewed tripe in my tacos but THESE were CRISPY!!! It was FANTASTICLY SUPRISING!!! Crunchy little morsels inside of my little street corn taco with cilantro and salso. Just the right size and the flavor is BOMB. The beef ring ur was super tender and beefy as well. I LOVED both!!
Come ck em out!! You wonāt be...
Ā Ā Ā Read more5 star review folks!!! Very pleasant surprise from a Japanese Mexican Restaurant in Sierra Vista. I wasnāt sure what to expect but Iāll certainly be going back again. Very easy to find, plenty of parking. The staff were friendly and attentive. Service was quick as well. I rarely comment on the bathrooms but I do this time because these bathrooms were a pleasure to use. They were spotless!!! I love the menus they have because you can see what you want to eat since there is a picture to go with the item you are considering. I havenāt said this much but that is actually something very important when looking at a menu. Sometime you have to guess what you are reading about on a menu. How big or small is the order? What does it look like? Food first enters visually and also thru olfaction. This helps you get excited about the food you are about to eat. More places should do that instead of a just a plain menu with no pictures. I like picture on my menus like I like sprinkles on my donuts. We ordered two plates. One was the Taco Maki Roll. The other was the Shrimp Tempura Roll. We ordered one first, then the other if we were still hungry. The Tako Maki Roll was beautifully presented. Lots of visual appeal to it .We had already prepared the wasabi mixed with soy. Ginger was on the side. The bites were the perfect size. Crunchy on the outside, flavorful on the inside. Dipping them in the soy sauce was the final addition to get that killer flavor. From the first bite to the last it was delicious. It also came with a bacon wrapped chile. It wasnāt a Jalapeno, It was something else and it was HOT! We were still hungry so we got another dish which was the Shrimp Tempura Roll. Another great choice! These rolls were nicely packed beautifully presented and also came with one of those hot chilis, bacon wrapped of course. Great flavor and texture in each bite. Both of these dishes were accompanied by a small side of an imitation crab style cole slaw (I guess thatās what it was) and shredded carrots. To finish our experience, we ordered some churros with as drizzle of chocolate accompanied by to dollops of whipped cream and a cherry. The churros were very good, great texture, the right amount of crunch and flavor (you could taste the sugar and cinnamon) and the chocolate drizzle and whipped cream completed it. Only thing I would say about the churros was they were dripping quite some grease. But they tasted so good I overlooked it. Over all this was a great experience. Canāt wait to try other dished at this restaurant. We will certainly be going back. I also got a burrito to go (I forgot to take a picture of it) since I knew I was going to be hungry later in the evening. It was the Burro Tlaloc stuffed with rib eye and marinated pork. This burrito was FAT!!! This was food porn wrapped in a flour tortilla. If you are a meat eater like I am then this is a burrito for you. Yesā¦.itās up there at almost 27 bucks but it was worth it. The prices on the menu are current...

Everything was hot, fresh, and well presented. We tried the Chili Dogo this time which was quite good. The hotdogs were high quality and good flavors. The cheese, bread, and toppings made it a comforting choice. The steak was cooked well, the steak quesadilla is the best I've had in town and the quesabarilla was savory and delicious.
We were fortunate to get Cassandra again and she did a great job. The other staff members who were running the food did a great job as well. They had spot on timing and efficency for us. The staff seemed to be working well together and no one looked miserable.
They provided my father-in-law with a pretty dessert of ice cream and churros, sang happy birthday, and held up a frame for pictures, making it a special experience for him!
We tried the bacon wrapped peppers again and they were more stuffed this time and also hotter! š„ It was intense but tasty!
We also tried the Moscow mule and a jack & coke. The drinks were strong and flavorful.
It was hopping so the space was limited and the atmosphere was noisy but cheerful. All in all another wonderful experience.
OG Post Sept 14 2024: This was our first visit for my husband's and my birthdays. (Same day)
The servers were attentive and friendly. Cassandra was efficient and great at upselling drinks. She zeroed in on my father-in-law who is not always easy to please and kept him laughing. He was thoroughly impressed with the food and service.
My husband and I tried the Burro Tlaloc which is possibly the best burrito I've ever had. We split it and it was savory and filling.
Our family tried the tako maki roll which was a little spicy but delicious. The tory maki stuffed peppers will wake you up but the flavor is wonderful.
The fries were well-seasoned and crispy. The steak and fries were cooked right and were satisfying.
Everything was presented beautifully.
They gave us birthday desserts and sang to us without prompting, because we had mentioned the birthdays. Which was nice but unexpected. They did ask for reviews since they gave us the dessert but I was planning on reviewing anyway.
The churros and ice cream were fresh, creamy, and crispy as it should be. The cheesecake was tall, thick, and creamy.
Items are pricey but worth it....
