We've ordered from Indochine a few times. They're relatively consistent in quality, the dining area is a decent size for being in a small space, I've never seen the dining room full when picking up our orders, but they do get a fair amount of take-out orders it would seem.
On this trip we tried the beef burgundy and the beef teriyaki as well as an order of crab fritters. (Like crab puffs or ragoons)
The beef burgundy meat was like pot roast tender and it fell apart in your mouth. The sauce was savory and comforting. The mashed potatoes were a little dry but the sauce from the meat mixed well with it. I'm not a fan of the glazed carrots and neither was my husband but they were tender and fresh.
The beef teriyaki was slices of dry beef with teriyaki sauce below it, so we had to cut it up and dip it into the minimal sauce. I imagine they do this to avoid mess but I wish they would give extra teriyaki sauce on the side or something as there just wasn't enough and the sauce is the best part. The white rice was fine but plain and the carrots with this dish were better possibly because they were soaking up the teriyaki sauce.
The crab fritters appetizer came with 5 triangles stuffed with cheesy crab mix and these were perfectly fried and tasty. Honestly my favorite part.
We ordered ahead and went in to pick it up. It was ready for me when I got there and there was only one person in the dining area and no other pick up orders in this case. The cashier was friendly and efficient. No issues there.
While there is room for improvement they've never messed up our order and are always pleasant. Pricing is reasonable as well so we continue to go back when in the mood...
Read moreIndochine has been on my list of must try spots in Sierra Vista and I made it...finally. Geez, What took me so long?!?!
The Location. Another spot on the main strip (Fry). If you were in another city, you might call it a hole in the wall but most of the non-chain restaurants here have that vibe.
The Vibe. Indochine has an at home, relaxed feel.
The Service. It is seat yourself which we did. I was slightly nervous initially because my co-worker and I sat there for 10 minutes before we saw a staff member anywhere in the establishment. Once past that preamble, service was good and fast. I ordered, walked outside to place a quick call, then to the restroom, and BAM! in less than 10 minutes my order had arrived.
The Food. I ordered Chicken Stir Fry and in rapid succession, the dishes of my co-workers arrived: Beef Stir Fry, Teriyaki Beef, and Shaking Beef. All four dishes looked great.
For me the Chicken Stir Fry was so good and EASILY the best meal that I have ever had in two extended stays in Sierra Vista. As shown in the photos, the stir fry was loaded with veg. The sauce was an excellent and well balanced combination of slightly salty, savory, and umami but not strong or overpowering as sometimes a hoisin or teriyaki or Sriracha can be. I wanted more of that sauce - like a rice bowl full - and a spoon.
Overall. Indochine Family Restaurant is now my Go-To and favorite restaurant in Sierra Vista. So damn good and there are many more dishes for me...
Read moreI ordered sweet and sour chicken for pick up. When I got home I found the wrong food. No pineapple, bell peppers, chicken. Some kind of beef and shrimp dish. I called them up to explain, but they argued I was mistaken and it was correct. I drove back there in the dark and rain. It was now an hour since I first ordered. I politely showed them the dish and they rather reluctantly agreed it was incorrect. No apology given. Just “thank you for bringing it back.“ many places will staple a piece of paper to the bag with the food to be picked up, on the paper is the name of the person and the dish. They don’t do that here. If there are several dishes on the table to be picked up, it’s Russian roulette. so be sure to check before you leave. Whilst waiting for the food, I said to the lady that when you mess up and inconvenience a customer, it’s good practice to not argue, but to be sincerely apologetic, and offer to make it up in someway, like a part refund or some extra food. She said with great pride that she had been through hospitality training and knew all about that. But did not offer any apology or make an effort to make it up to me. She failed the hospitality training? When I got home, I found that the sauce was very watered down, the chicken in batter was over cooked and the portion was barely enough for one person’s meal. Normally there’s enough for leftovers. I will be taking my custom...
