Normally Dickey's is top notch whenever I go. However, this time I was highly disappointed . I ordered online for quick pickup because I was I a hurry. When I showed up it was not ready. I had to wait more than 15 minutes for my food to be prepared. There was a sizeable line of about 5 and there was quite a few people sitting at the tables. The lady behind the counter seemed to be having some sort of "episode" in front of customers. She broke into a rendition of Old Town Road. Then shouted "Ohhhh I'm bored, it doesnt seem like it but I am". You're bored?! You have a line full of customers, plus you failed to make my online order! Then she said something like ohhh she has alot of problems going on. She went to the back to grab something out of the freezer then was shouting stuff from the back to the boy worker, see I told you....(inaudible). My food was finally ready, I was told here's your order without at least a sorry about that. The food itself was disappointing. I got the 3 meat plate. It didn't look like 3 meats, maybe 2. The Turkey seemed to be the usual. The chicken however was dry and looked burnt or some diffrent coating was put on it which made it burnt? The chicken had a dark brown outside and a thick brown rub or coating on it. I'm not usually one to complain, but when you are looking forward to something you just want what...
Read moreI've been itching to try out this BBQ joint for a while and today I finally got my wish. I ordered the 1 Meat Plate (pulled pork) with Fried Okra and Baked Potato Casserole as sides. My son got his Sunday kids meal for free which made me a very happy camper. I mean a Beef Brisket Hoagie with Waffle Iron Fries + Drink for free -- that's a great value. Imagine if I had 4 kids! I picked spicy BBQ sauce and he picked sweet BBQ sauce. I loved the spicy sauce -- just the right heat and the right kick. This was also the first time ever that I tried fried okra. The texture that it added to the meat was, quoting another reviewer, "out of this world", reminding me of trying out the New Orleans Gumbo for the first time.
Oh, here's icing on the cake: everyone got to help himself with a free soft serve ice cream!!
One word of caution: I came in at off-peak hour (2:45 pm on a Saturday). I had just one person in front of me. But quickly as I went though with my order, the line suddenly piled up. The assembly line could break down if just one side dish (in this case, my son's Waffle Iron Fries) is in shortage. I could easily imagine how the order line could go out of control during peak hours.
Anyways, I must say we had a fun meal. I felt this place served justice for my living in this geographic region! 5...
Read moreUsually pretty great food and always fairly kind service, the food was pretty deplorable today at it was 6pm. Prime dinner time. Unfortunately tonight the pork was great, the chicken pretty dry, and the brisket so dry and crumbly I literally couldn’t eat it. Literally. It was so overcooked and past time to toss they must’ve struggled to pick up the dry hard chunks to serve it. To add insult to injury, instead of the potato salad ordered I was sent home with mashed prototypes which I don’t recommend.
Moral of the story is to check your takeout order before leaving so you’re not stuck with leftovers that should’ve been trashed and the wrong sides.
While I’ve been able to solve these issues when eating in store it’s too late by the time you get home. If you’re getting grub hub good luck. It’s a crap shoot if you can’t check first.
I’m not suggesting not eating here. It’s just not the first time I’m disappointed with the take out quality. Good food sometimes. Just eat in and rectify immediately or check your bag...
