A Lil' Sumthin' Sweet — Restaurant in Silver Spring

I'm so excited for a good local ice cream shop! And that it's listed on Google now! My partner and I went their opening weekend to check them out, and liked it so much, we went back for more the next weekend! We met Cam this time, and we're not lying when we say we'll be back often.

The staff is still green around the ears and learning the best way to handle themselves behind the counter, but they are very polite and attentive, just still a bit confused about where things are as they get settled into the new space.

I've only had the ice cream as the weather is perfect for it, but some of those cake slices sing a siren song that's hard to resist. Maybe when it cools down I'll leave an update with thoughts on the carrot cake 👀

If you get an ice cream sandwich, get the cookies warmed, and get it in a bowl. Their cookies aren't quite structurally sound enough to hold all that delicious ice cream, but the cookies are DELICIOUS in the ice cream. Just accept it as a warm cookie ice cream bowl and you will have a perfect treat to share--or not! That snickerdoodle + apple pie ice cream combo is my new favorite.

Right now my only "complaint" is that in trying to let people know they are there, they are blasting music from a speaker near the open front door. I totally respect this choice, but I'm looking forward to when they have enough of a business base built up that the speaker disappears. It's a small space and it's hard to hear and communicate with the staff. They haven't gotten a single thing wrong, but there is a lot of extra confirming that might not need to happen if there's no extra loud music.

Look, as of writing this review, this place has only been open two weeks, and I can already tell you I will do whatever it takes to make sure they never close. They are everything I want out of an ice-cream shop, and the fact they're locally owned just makes it that much better.

It feels like your neighborhood ice-cream joint. It's good enough I've already been in twice, and the guy behind the counter recognized me, remembered what I'd sampled before, and asked if I wanted to try something new.

The quality of the ice-cream is phenomenal. Prices are great, portion size is spot on, and the menu is solid. They've got enough flavors you won't get bored, but no so many you can be confident they know their recipes.

From the moment I walked in, the vibe was great. The staff greeted me with a smile and, since it was my first visit, gave me the full rundown of their offerings. I sampled a couple of flavors before settling on Dirt Road—and it was excellent.
