Terrible! Unprofessional! Unethical! Had a problem with carry out â no utensils, no napkins and empanadas were cold with no seasoning or sauce. Arrived at outdoor concert and could not eat food. Called to speak to general manager same day and was told he was not in but next time would give free enter and mojito. Said I would not come into restaurant for a drink and asked for general manager to return call. He never did! Four messages later, no return call. Final call #5, this manager insisted he could resolve problem because âJoeâ usually not there and at other Bethesda store. He offered same compensation The first person did, then backtracked on the entree. Had enough of the unprofessional treatment and malingering on the phone and no return calls from manager, so took the empanadas back and requested a refund which was refused. When I returned the empanadas, they took them into the restaurant were gone for several minutes came back with them and refused refund. They left again for several minutes still with item and no intention to refund. After having two employees harass me, one whom approached the driverâs window I left. They still have the empanadas.
Take out order no napkins or silverware, cold empanadas that look nothing like the picture on their web page with no seasoning or the sauce requested, multiple calls and messages left for the manager that were ignored, refused reimbursement, harassment to the point one approached the driver window. At that point, felt threatened and left. They made no effort to address the problem, no apologies, no refund. Rather held me hostage For 15 minutes awaiting a refund they had no intention of giving and then they had nothing better to do than harass me for a receipt. When this guy approached my car again, I couldnât take the harassment anymore until I just left. They are unwilling to acknowledge any problems with their food or service with carry out!!!! When I handed it to them I said â They were cold, there was no seasoning or sauce as requested.â That answer wasnât sufficient for them. Will file a formal complaint with the county! When we arrived at the restaurant, it was almost empty and my husband and I were seated at a tiny 2 person table squished up against the window. I would understand if the restaurant was busy, but I couldnât see the reason why when there were at most 4 other patrons at the restaurant at the time. The restaurant is also run down and did not feel clean.
I spoke to the waiter in Spanish, and he was very obviously surprised. After he left our table, I overheard him telling someone that I spoke Spanish, which leads me to believe that the staff may speak badly about the patrons in Spanish on a regular basis and count on them not being able to understand. If thatâs the case, itâs a bad look, and they should at least be smarter and talk smack in the kitchen where itâs harder to overhear the conversation.
The menu has some âauthenticâ items, but as with many Latin restaurants, the menu inevitably includes food from other Latin American cultures. Those who donât know differently probably wouldnât be bothered, but it is a pet peeve of mine as a Cuban. Some of the food is Americanized, but thatâs likely just a side effect of having to appeal to a wider audience.
The food arrived mostly warm, but not hot. It was clear it had sat for some time. The portions were very small, and the food was lacking in flavor and boring. As a whole, the menu was overpriced.

I was so disappointed! I expected so much more considering the ratings and reviews I seen. I expected a cleaner, more upscale, and professional restaurant. Please train your servers to do a 2-3 minute check back after dropping food to the table to ensure your guests are satisfied and have everything that they need to enjoy their meal. I am a server an excellent one by the way and a $60 meal which is normally a $10-$15 tip ended up being a 10% tip and I have never in my life tipped that low. I just wonât be back I wish I could but it was not a good experience and my husband was very disappointed that I had chose that restaurant only bc of the poor conditions. He loved the food too. Please update the restaurant and get it up to a healthy and more presentable standard. Code enforcement should really evaluate the mold and all the moisture growing in the ceiling.
