Came here 7 years ago. Food tasted great then. Haven't been there in a while so we decided to go yesterday for dinner. It was not too busy. The Host greeted us right away. Brought chips and salsa. The chips were basically chips. They were not stale. They were not outstanding. The salsa needed a little more zip. I squeezed some of the lime I had on my beer into the salsa and that made a huge difference. I ordered the chimichanga with rice and beans with shredded beef. Honestly it was kind of small. There was a little dab of shredded wilted lettuce on the plate. I guess that was more for looks. The shredded beef tasted like it was cooked in water. It had absolutely no flavor unfortunately. My wife had the chili relleno. Both of us commented that the food lacked seasonings. Not just spicy heat because not everybody likes that but just seasonings. It's like it changed since the last time we were here. It's like the Mexican food is becoming Americanized. I don't care for Americanized Mexican food. We found a restaurant in Woodburn (Luis's Taqueria) that makes authentic Mexican food and I guess that's what we now compare other Mexican restaurants to. The waitress was cheerful so was the host and another young man who brought our food. Basically three different people waiting on our table. Even though they smiled, we got a funny look... Like they weren't sure if we were Friend or foe LOL. Hard to describe. Just felt funny. The food came out pretty quick, which I thought was unusual for a chimichanga which is deep fried. So I can't complain about food taking too long. The main thing is the food is just lacking flavor. And the flavor comes from seasonings and cooking method. I would suggest they stop with the American Mexican flavors and stick with just the authentic Mexican flavor. I mean you can read the reviews and see that other people comment about the lackluster flavor, but you don't see anybody complaining that there's too much seasonings. So go ahead and make the change. I think more people will be pleased. The last thing I want to comment on was the prices. Almost every entree was over $20. That's pretty much on the high end of family restaurants in Silverton. With such high prices, they should definitely put better seasoning in the food and meat and make the portions a little bit bigger. We may go back One day. Maybe after I see some reviews that reflect the positive changes in flavor and...
Read moreI ordered a meal through delivery.com. I ordered a burrito and I ordered a salad. On the order notes I asked them to put some tomatoes and cucumber on the salad. Right as the delivery person was delivering my order, someone from delivery.com called me to let me know the salad comes in a kit. Basically telling me that it's going to be the way it came out of the bag. It would have been great if somebody had let me know this in the 30 minutes it took before they started preparing my order. The order arrives, I look at the salad. The lettuce is old brown wilted and slimy. I run out for the driver. She came back to my door and looked at it. I just wanted someone to see how poor the quality was. She said 'no I would not eat that either, I will contact the restaurant and ask them to refund the salad.' I also called delivery.com and let them know what had happened. The restaurant refused to replace the cost of the salad. $7.50 Now let's get back to the part that the salad comes in a kit/preassembled whatever. Ixtapa is a restaurant that serves tomatoes on tacos, they couldn't put tomatoes on my salad? You're going to charge $7.50 for a handful of wilted brown slimy lettuce? During Covid lockdown, I used delivery service to order from this restaurant and I sat outside to eat at this restaurant. I was one of the customers that helped keep this restaurant running and this is how they are going to say thank you. I will not give them my...
Read moreThere are multiple options in Silverton to get what locals consider traditional Mexican food. Ixtapa offers what you find at a typical Mexican restaurant. They have your standard combination plates with enchiladas, tostada's, chimichangas, etc and traditional appetizers. Same things as any other Ixtapa you'll find in neighboring areas. I'm always partial to the Noname on the appetizers, which is basically several, 3 or 4, mini chimichangas cut into almost bite size pieces. Choice of chicken or beef. Food is good. Service at the register at front is questionable some days good other days. However, the ones covering the register do so as a secondary responsibility. They aren't always quick to catch that you are there. Once they see you you're good, and often will be asked my multiple people. But don't expect to be treated the moment you walk in the door. Only if they happen to be standing there having just finished, or helping someone else. Service while eating is generally good, though it's been a while since I've eaten...
