Normally we have nothing but great things to say about Cracker Barrel until now! We found the worst one last night to have dinner at. We're visiting kids in Columbia, SC and wanted to meet up with my niece so we picked the restaurant in Simpsonville and drove the hour and a half to get there. We had a large group so it took a few minutes to get seated which was expected. Everything was going good, drinks ordered, food ordered, we got our drinks then the great failure. They brought out the first round of food, it was all for one side of the table, so while we were waiting the food was getting cold and it was taking even longer than expected. We started noticing people that ordered after us started getting their food. My wife went to find a manager who took a long time to come to the front. When he arrived he said he would look into it( no apologies). My wife returned and about 10 minutes later he came out and told our son in law it would be out shortly. He didn't even talk to my wife(rude). Well the food finally came out about 35 minutes after the first half of the table received their food(again still, no apologies from a manager or the server) we have never had service like this at a cracker barrel. The second round of food was marginal at Best, there was a hair in my nieces corn, there was burnt food in the two different servings of Mac and cheese likely scraped off the bottom of the pan, my grandsons chicken was just slightly warm and the fries were cold. At this point everyone was starving and just ate what they had except for the hair, the server replaced the bowl of corn(and again no apologies) . The only good part of the dinner was visiting with my niece and her husband. This manager should be reviewed for performance, he never approached the table, I never saw him smile or greet any customer, maybe he was having a bad day but even then he could have said sorry. ( My educated guess is that the order was not placed for that side of the table because it was literally one half of the table split equally, luckily the younger grandkids were on the early food side and didn't have to wait for their food. The jist of my complaint here is POOR customer service! We paid our$200 bill and left never to return to this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo Iāve never eaten here but have always heard amazing things. I googled what to get and said ok letās go. You walk in and it looks amazing. I walk in and itās not really busy I take my seat and wait. I see a waiter who I assume is mine kneeling at the table next to me. Heās talking to an elderly couple who are sat there. So I find what I want on the menu and I continue to sit and wait but he just keeps conversing. Another gentleman walks in and is greeted by his waiter, takes a seat and has a drink and biscuits on the table, meanwhile Iām still waiting on my waiter. Finally he comes over asks me what I would like to drink and if I wanted corn bread or biscuits. I say biscuits and a coke. The coke comes out and I place my order. After 35 minutes of sitting I decided to walk out of a 3/4 empty restaurant. I can see why there were so many elderly people in the establishment they probably aged whilst waiting for their food. First time and last. Didnāt even get to try the biscuits or that chicken fried steak.
Update: well I came back the following day. Luckily I was in Valeries section as she was amazing at her job. Overall the food is mediocre, you can find this anywhere and with more flavor. I was disappointed that my peach cobbler came out the same temperature as my ice cream. I asked to have it remade and my cobbler was just thrown in a microwave with the ice cream on top. So when I got it back it was just ice cream soup. Guess I wonāt be back. Owner or manager no need to respond to with the same copied and pasted responses below. These are the details.
Update figured Iād try it again. Still horrible nice people just they canāt get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I went here last week, horrible service. Arrived about 6:15 and we saw signs that they were closing for a Christmas party. They still said they were going to sit people, so we decided to stay. Our waitress came out and was friendly and I ordered a breakfast plate and you had the choice of a breakfast sideā¦.asked if I could order fried okra instead and was told I could not. Plate also came with biscuits and gravy. When the food came out I was told they were out of biscuits and was not even offered toast or anything other than that they could still bring the gravy out. I had 2 eggs and bacon with a portion of hash brown casseroleā¦my wife ordered chicken and dumplings (which she would normally get) this was chicken tenders and dumplings. The chicken was not even cut up or shredded, just boiled chicken tenders mixed in with the dumplings. My wifeās side was fried okra (which she gave me, cause I couldnāt order it with my breakfast) The fried okra was cold as if it had been sitting all evening. All in all nobody seemed to care about anything else but the Christmas party. All the workers were just gathered talking and laughing by the kitchen as if the customers they did have were a bother (granted I know some werenāt on the clock because they were there to attend the Christmas party so itās understandable) itās just nobody seemed to care. The times weāve been there before were wonderful however this ruined this place for us and more than likely will...
