First red flag was the sign on the door that said all menu items had an extra $0.99 or $1.99 fee due to high prices. If my family was not past the point of hunger we would have immediately left, but I insisted that we go inside since we were already there. First off, the restaurant was so dark that you could barely see to walk to your table. I understand that a dim atmosphere is commonplace in most Mexican restaurants, but this was aggressively dark. When the food arrived I completely understood. This was Saturday night 11/9/24 and the tables were at less than 50% capacity. Waitress was very rushed and pushy with taking our order. Did not have patience with my two (well behaved) children, and did not help us understand their confusing menu choices. When asked about the extra fee signage, she told us that was an old sign and do not worry. Waitress was so pushy that I ordered 3 cheese quesadillas and 2 steak quesadillas for the kids and wife to split, and then a combination that included 2 stuffed chile poblanos with rice for myself. (These were supposedly stuffed with cheese and ground beef according to the menu). When the food arrived I understood why the lighting was so dim. The cheese quesadillas were barely heated and the steak quesadillas had cold cheese inside. Stuffed poblanos were not cooked and had a clump of freezer temperature cheese inside, no meat. I called the waitress over and asked why my order was wrong and she explained that I had ordered the two Chiles a la carte, which meant no meat. I pulled out the frozen cheese and inquired if that was standard, to which she answered by picking up my plate and walking away to the kitchen. Children complained about the steak being 'hard and cold' and my wife conceded to eating the chips and water salsa. About 10 minutes later a new stuffed chile arrived, this time with burned steak inside. The cheese was barely melted, but at least it wasn't frozen. As they delivered my second meal, the waitress decided it was time to mop the floor beside us, and poured the most obnoxious mixture of cleaning product on the floor beside our table. Mind you this was at 715pm and well before their closing time. There were no noticeable spills or messes to clean, so I assumed that this was punishment for sending back my frozen poblano peppers. I quickly ate what I could stomach while my wife took the children to the bathroom. My 4 year old exited the bathroom crying and exclaiming that this was "the worst place ever" since the soap dispenser squirted soap at a 45 degree angle and directly into his face. As we went to pay, the person behind the counter was nice enough, I paid the bill and we exited into the completely dark parking lot. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Please save yourself the trouble and do not eat here. Maybe this was an off night, but I feel like I would have similar experiences on any...
Read moreWe use to love El Tejano... until we started noticing that our bill was never the same and we pretty much ordered the same thing every time. The last time we went there we wrote down the prices of everything we ordered from the menu and when we went to the register it was more than 9 dollars over what the prices stated on the menu. When they ring you up they type the prices in from a order pad written in spanish so you have no idea what it says. The receipts aren't even itemized so you can make sure you are charged correctly. The last straw was when my parents were charged $40 extra dollars for 4 margaritas and they don't even drink and always order water. We would be completely understanding if it only happened once. Rosy has refunded Myself and my husband at least twice for overcharging and my parents multiple time. Rosy knew all of us by name as we use to see her when she worked at Corona on Wade Hampton. It's very unfortunate that this has happened as we love Rosy and the food there but we will never eat there again due to being robbed every single time.... everytime i see the matching Mazarati's at the front door... well.... definitely will make you wonder. WARNING CHECK YOUR PRICES IF YOU GO HERE OR YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED.
also I am writing this review after almost 3 years of not eating...
Read moreTheir food is always hot, Rosie is anyways the nicest everytime you arrive. She and all the staff there treat you like family like they have known you forever and when I say no where else accommodates you like the staff their, I mean it. Most people may think "oh it's just another restaurant" but what keeps us coming back time and time again is the customer service. Its OUTSTANDING. You wont understand until you go. We usually go for dinner and they seat you as quickly as possible, I've never waited longer than 2 mins to be seated. They get you drinks chips and salsa as soon as you sit down. 99% of the time we never ask for refills as they do it so often and refill the chips as well without asking. The attention to detail at the table is immaculate and I believe their goal is for you to never HAVE to ask to have things done that should be done and I must say, we never ask for these things. The food from the time you order to your table is usually 10 mins or less and we have been served in 5 mins befire multiple times. Their food is always hot, the order is always right (at least we have never experienced a wrong order) and the owners/managers talk to you like family and actually get to know you over time and it's a great environment and experience. They have and will always keep...
