Read moreI was totally expecting an amazing dining experience based on all the "5-star" ratings. I'm now wondering how many of the reviews are fake.
The food is mediocre at best. The diced potatoes are not fresh and obviously come out of a bag in the freezer.
The first mistake was ordering Mexican food from an American breakfast restaurant. I had the huevos rancheros. The tortilla chips were overcooked. They opened a can of Ortega chili's and just dumped them on some cooked chorizo, sprinkled it with cheese, and set it in a broiler for a few minutes.
My daughter got a double bacon burger. The lettuce was wilted, and the tomato looked like it came from the bottom of the vegetable bin.
Service was slow. I get that it was a Sunday, but with so many empty tables, it shouldn't have been that bad. On top of that, the staff sits out in the back of the restaurant smoking and then comes in smelling like a chimney. Silverware was dirty.
It had the overall feeling of people who were just their to collect a paycheck and care very little about quality and service. I was really hoping for a great experience, but it just goes to show that not all 4.9 ratings are legit.
For three people, it cost $65.00! That price tag comes with higher expectations of tasty food and attentive service.
I may be the only negative review that appears, but I have eaten in A LOT of restaurants that far exceed expectations. Sadly, Another Broken Egg is also just another broken expectation. Drive a few minutes down the road for a better meal and experience. We definitely...
Read moreMy husband and I tried Another Broken Egg Cafe in Simpsonville for the first time today, and wow… what a sweet little experience it turned out to be.
Parking there isn’t the easiest. We pulled in and there wasn’t a single spot open. For a second, we were ready to just leave, but we paused, prayed, and felt that gentle nudge from the Holy Spirit to hang tight. Not even a minute later, a spot opened up right in front of us. Perfect timing.
Inside had such a cozy, welcoming feel. Our server, Aaliyah, was a total sweetheart; so attentive and kind. Management surprised us with free beignets, and they were amazing. My husband isn’t big on sweets, but even he couldn’t stop talking about them and was already plotting how to make some at home.
Then there was the coffee. Normally, I stick with Colombian, but something told me to try the house blend. I did, and honestly… that coffee hugged me. Warm, comforting, familiar; like being wrapped up in a memory. It even took me back to my grandma and her coffee pot that was always on.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Psalm 34:8
Moments like this don’t happen often for us. We always pray before deciding where to go, asking God to lead us, and this time He really did; from the parking space to the people to the coffee.
Parking might be a little tight, but the service, food, and atmosphere more than made up for it. We left full, not just from the food but from the sweetness of the moment. We’ll...
