Firehouse Subs Foss Crossing — Restaurant in Sioux Falls Township

This Firehouse location was pretty good at one time. Ever since COVID hit, their quality has suffered. Never huge things, but a lot of little annoyances, hence why they still have three stars from me.

They’re always friendly and never rude, even when busy. I appreciate that. They’ve always gotten my order right on the receipt, and I always enjoy “rounding up” to give a little extra to firefighters/EMTs/etc.

However, their sandwich crew is another story. 75% of the time I visit, they forget toppings I ask for. One time, they left off all the toppings altogether. The next time, they left off what I asked them to, and half the others that I actually asked for. I am not asking for bizarre combinations either; lettuce, tomato, cheese. This last time, they left off just the lettuce, off a sub type that has lettuce by default.

Mistakes happen, we’re all human. I also understand its harder to find decent help post-COVID. However, 75% failure rate is unacceptable, even if this was a drive through (and this is not a drive through). This is even frequently when it is not busy (I was one of two people in the business at around 2:00pm this last time).

TLDR: Post-COVID, the people working here that assemble the sandwiches do not pay enough attention to your order, and very frequently screw up toppings...

Not good, so sad... We decided to start checking out the sub places in town since we are tired of greasy fast food. This place sounded good, but was sooo disappointing. I ordered a build-your-own sandwich; pretty basic, hard to mess up kind of sub just to try their ingredients. The meat was fine, but not much of it was there. I asked for mayo and mustard, and there was so much mayo added that the whole sandwich was slippery with it and I forgot there was mustard until I tasted a slight hint of it. I also requested black olives, and there were a few on there, but they were nasty. I love olives and eat them often, so I know how they are supposed to taste. The ones they served me looked fine but had gone bad, and the rotten flavor overtook the entire sub even after I picked them out. Yuck. To make things worse, the bread was so soggy in spots and oddly chewy (doughy?) in others, I ended up just taking the rest of the ingredients out and wiping off the excessive mayo. I thought the bread would have been toasted, and it really needed to be, so another disappointment there. The only thing that was actually good was the pickle spear that came with it. One of the other sandwiches sounded good, but I will not...

I ordered 4 subs I had all of them customized 4 ofthem no mustard one of them was suppose to be a honey hamm with cheese and mayo only as my son don't like lettuce onion or tomato none of that so a easy task nope all of them had mustard which we did not like all the topping was on my sons sub as I just asked for meat cheese and mayo then they threw all 4 sandwiches in one paper bag they didn't greet you or nothing this was supper time about 715 730 on arrowhead drive in siouxfalls sd I drove a half hour just to get that food I ordered online the only person to even be nice was the young girl working at the register when I asked her for a cup for my drink so I called in today to talk to a manager got put on hold and no one ever came back on so I hung up. Let's to better people and greet people when you come in ya all looked like you hated your job and didn't want to be their and diff didn't follow the tickets online to how the sandwiches were to be made and it was just thrown together like you didn't even care I love firehouse and I have never EVER had this problem it's a shame I am disappointed driving all that way for the poor...
